🏆 Award Winners! 🏆

We're incredibly proud to share that we've won the Excellence in Rehab and Reablement Award for our innovative Occupational Therapy-led Rehabilitation and Recovery Pathway Model across our independent mental health hospitals.

This award recognises the incredible impact of our Occupational Therapy-led approach to rehabilitation, with June Mercer, one of our dedicated Occupational Therapists, championing the pathways and helping embed this innovative model into practice to support people with complex mental health needs to regain independence, build confidence and achieve sustainable recovery.

By placing Occupational Therapy at the heart of rehabilitation, our structured, person-centred pathway model has led to a 57.8% increase in successful discharges over two years, helping more people move forward with their lives through meaningful occupation, reablement, community integration and innovative approaches such as Virtual Reality therapy.

Representing us at Friday's awards ceremony were June Mercer and our Director of Mental Health, Heather Etheridge, who proudly accepted the award on behalf of everyone involved in bringing this model to life.

A huge thank you to our incredible teams across our independent hospitals, whose compassion, expertise and commitment make outcomes like this possible every day. Most importantly, thank you to the people we support, who inspire us with their determination and recovery journeys.

As Learning Disability Awareness Week comes to an end, we’re reflecting on this year’s theme: Do You See Me?

Throughout the week, we’ve shared stories that celebrate people with lived experience achieving their independence goals, being active citizens within our society, and making valuable contributions to our communities.

These positive achievements can only happen when people who require support are genuinely listened to and proactively involved in shaping the type of support and lives they want to live.

However, it’s sad to say that we still have a societal problem that means (far too often) people with lived experience are not seen or heard, are excluded, disrespected and ignored, and are continually under-valued as everyday people, individuals, and active citizens.

At Alternative Futures Group, we do not use labels or put people in categories, we only see the individual person they truly are: the person who has goals, desires and ambitions, the person who has strengths, skills and capability, the person who wants to be listened to, respected and be included, and the person who wants purpose, to give contribution and to be valued. We always see and value the whole person.

So as this campaign week ends, we’re asking you to challenge the way you think, feel, see and value people with lived experience… Do you (really) see me?

🎉We're celebrating award success at the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards!

🏆A huge congratulations to our Learning Disability Nurse, Alysha Appleton, who won the LD Nurse Award at last night's national awards ceremony in Birmingham. This well-deserved recognition celebrates Alysha's dedication, expertise and commitment to enriching the lives of people with learning disabilities.

🌟We're also incredibly proud of our shortlisted finalists in the Supporting Older People with Learning Disabilities and Learning Disability and Autism Team Award categories. To be recognised on a national stage alongside so many inspiring individuals and organisations is a fantastic achievement.

The recognition comes during Learning Disability Awareness Week, making the achievement even more special.

Congratulations to Alysha and well done to all our finalists - we're proud to see your hard work and impact recognised.

This Learning Disability Awareness Week, we're celebrating people for who they are and all they do.

From bowling strikes, to scoring goals on the football pitch, tending gardens, playing bowls, learning new skills and enjoying the things they love - every individual has their own interests, talents and achievements ⚽ 🎳 🏡 💜

Too often, people see the label before they see the person. This year's theme, "Do You See Me?", challenges us all to look beyond assumptions and recognise the whole person.

We're proud to celebrate the people we support, their passions, successes and the contributions they make every day.

⭐ What a fantastic evening at the Stars of Social Care Awards – Home Care on Friday!

We're delighted to share that we won the Complex Care at Home Award and were Highly Commended in the Mental Health Specialist Award.

Our award-winning Complex Care at Home nomination recognised the outstanding work of our Lancashire team, led by Annette, whose person-centred approach has helped a person with complex needs gain greater independence, confidence and quality of life.

We were also Highly Commended for the exceptional work of Amie, one of our Community Mental Health Practitioners, whose dedication has supported a person to achieve their longest sustained period in the community in nine years.

A huge congratulations to our other AFG finalists too – we're proud of everyone who represented AFG on the national stage.

Thank you to the Stars of Social Care Awards for a brilliant evening celebrating the very best of social care. ⭐
