We'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to the team at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres for their warm welcome and enthusiasm in inviting Oakleaf to support the development of Suspicious Minds.

It was a privilege to share our knowledge and experience around bereavement and loss to help inform a production that explores such an important and deeply human subject with sensitivity and authenticity.

Suspicious Minds follows three women navigating life after the death of their mum, exploring the many ways grief changes us over time. Through humour, heartbreak and hope, the play reminds us that there is no "right" way to grieveβ€”each person's journey is unique.

If you're looking for a thoughtful and moving piece of theatre, performances run until Saturday 20 June at the Playhouse Studio, with tickets available via the Everyman & Playhouse website. 🎟️ https://everymanplayhouse.com/event/suspicious-minds/

Thank you again to everyone involved for recognising the importance of conversations around grief and for helping bring these experiences to the stage with such care.

We’re absolutely delighted to share that Oakleaf has been awarded Β£15,000 through The Jane Tomlinson Appeal’s 2026 Big Charity Giveaway.

Out of more than 300 organisations that applied, only 26 charities were selected to receive funding. Collectively, applicants requested over Β£3 million in support, highlighting just how challenging the funding landscape has become for charities across the UK.

This incredible grant will help Oakleaf continue providing specialist bereavement support for children and young people across Liverpool. As the city’s only dedicated bereavement service for children and young people, this funding will make a real difference to families navigating grief, loss and separation.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, its Trustees, and everyone who takes part in Run For All and BTR Liverpool events. Your support enables charities like ours to continue providing vital services within our communities.

At a time when demand for bereavement support continues to grow, this funding will help ensure that children and young people have access to the compassionate support they need when they need it most.

Thank you for believing in the work of Oakleaf.

This May, Liverpool Bereavement Service was proud to take part in Merseyrail's Summer Health & Wellbeing Roadshows, alongside a fantastic range of organisations supporting employee wellbeing across the network.

Throughout the roadshows, we had the opportunity to speak with colleagues about bereavement, grief, and the support available through Liverpool Bereavement Service, including our adult bereavement service, Oakleaf Children's Service, and Baby & Child Loss Service.

It was encouraging to see so many people stop for a conversation, ask questions, and take away information for themselves, family members, friends, or colleagues. These conversations remind us just how important it is that people know support is available when they need it.

A huge thank you to Merseyrail for inviting us to be involved and for their ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing.

We were delighted to be alongside other organisations and partners including Blackburne House Group, Transport Benevolent Fund, PureGym, NatWest, and many others who were sharing valuable health, wellbeing, financial, and practical support with colleagues.

If your organisation would like to learn more about bereavement in the workplace, support employees through grief and loss, or explore partnership opportunities with Liverpool Bereavement Service, we'd love to hear from you.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Team πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ§‘

As we come to the end of 2025, we want to take a moment to say a truly heartfelt thank you to all our volunteer counsellors and staff at Liverpool Bereavement Service and Oakleaf Children’s Service.

Your compassion, commitment, and quiet dedication continue to make an immeasurable difference to the lives of adults, children, and families navigating grief, loss, and change. Day in and day out, you show up with care, empathy, and professionalism β€” often holding space for others during their most difficult moments.

We are deeply grateful for everything you have given this year β€” your time, your energy, your skill, and your humanity. We simply could not do this work without you.

From all of us, we wish you a peaceful Christmas and a healthy, hopeful New Year. Thank you for all that you do 🧑✨

A Big Thank You to K J Services 🍫

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to K J Services for their generous donation of chocolate selection boxes for all the children we support through Oakleaf Children’s Services.

These thoughtful gifts helped bring a little extra joy and comfort to children and young people who are navigating grief, loss, and difficult times β€” especially during the festive season.

Acts of kindness like this make a real difference and remind the children (and our team) that they are seen, cared for, and supported by their local community.

Thank you, K J Services, for your generosity and for helping us spread a bit of warmth and kindness πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ§‘

We want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to Sarah Murphy, who not only ran a half marathon to raise funds for Liverpool Bereavement Service and Oakleaf, but also showed incredible kindness to our volunteer counsellors this Christmas with generous gifts of tea, coffee, and beautiful homemade Christmas craft treats.

Sarah completed the half marathon in memory of her lovely mum, β€œNanny Noo”, and shared this on her fundraising page:

β€œLiverpool Bereavement Service and Oakleaf helped me and my girls through the darkest time of our lives. We lost a lovely mum and a much-loved Nanny Noo, and Lesley, the amazing counsellor, helped us through that heartbreaking time by listening and supporting us. I want to raise money to help anyone else who needs the wonderful, kind, and loving support of LBS and Oakleaf.”

Sarah, thank you for trusting us with your story, for raising funds so others can receive the same care and support, and for thinking so thoughtfully of our counsellors at such a busy time of year. Your generosity β€” in so many forms β€” means more than we can say. πŸ’šπŸ§‘πŸ©΅

A Huge Thank You to Our Santa Dash Fundraisers πŸŽ… πŸ’™ ❀️

We want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has fundraised for Liverpool Bereavement Service through this year’s Santa Dash. Your kindness, creativity, and generosity truly mean the world to us.

🐾 Thank you to Claire Yates and Izzy the dog.
Izzy took part in the Liverpool Santa Dash this Sunday, raising funds for LBS with a wonderful message: β€œDon’t buy things you don’t need for Christmas β€” sponsor Izzy instead.”

We’re so grateful to Claire and Izzy for supporting local, grassroots bereavement support in such a joyful way.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Thank you to the Liverpool & Wirral Widow & Widowers Friendship Group.

We’re honoured that members of the group are taking part in the Liverpool 5K Santa Dash to raise funds for LBS.

A huge thank you to Barbara McShane, Phil Joinson, Dave Bliss, Phil Harris, and Peter Finnigan for getting involved β€” some in red Santa suits, some in blue, all showing unity, care, and support for one another.

To everyone who was running, walking, donating, sharing, or cheering from the sidelines β€” thank you. Your support helps us continue offering free and low-cost bereavement counselling to adults, children, and families across Merseyside.

We truly couldn’t do this without you πŸ’™
