Our colleagues in the Netherlands are celebrating their 35th birthday. So we’re proud to share this from Longkanker Nederland:

🎬 Our anniversary campaign has started!

This year Lung Cancer Netherlands is 35 years old. That's why we're launching a six-month campaign, highlighting a theme each month through the story of a patient or relative.

We're starting with the topic of diagnostics.

Jan-Willem was diagnosed with seperated lung cancer in 2021 - with seperation throughout his body and to his brain. Thanks to molecular research, a targeted treatment was available to him. Five years later he’s doing fine.

💬 "Good diagnostics are very important. This is how you can start the right treatment for the right patient. "

Living with a cancer diagnosis can be challenging - physically, psychologically and emotionally. Even after successful treatment, concerns can remain, affecting day to day life.
Sharing this, with thanks, from our colleagues in Brazil, Oncoguia:

The fear of cancer coming back changes everything.
And it's not just a feeling, it affects behaviors, decisions and way of living.
According to data from the Oncoguia research on relapse conducted between 2021 and 2023:
🔍 96% monitor health all the time
de 80% have changed the lifestyle
%️ 42% postponed plans for the future
erta 85% live in constant alert
💊 98% follow the treatment correctly
This fear may be silent, but it's deep.
And needs to be acknowledged, welcomed and cared for.
Talking about him is the first step, but we have to make sure he is also valued in consultations and treatment decisions.

Nurses play a vital role in health care.
Sharing this, with thanks and respect, from our colleagues Lung Cancer Canada:

May is Oncology Nursing Month.

Across Canada, oncology nurses are at the heart of lung cancer care — guiding patients and families through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship with extraordinary skill, compassion, and dedication.

Their work extends far beyond the clinic. Oncology nurses are educators, advocates, and trusted partners for patients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
At Lung Cancer Canada, we are proud to support and strengthen this vital community through the Lung Nurses Network — a growing national initiative designed to connect lung cancer nurses, share knowledge, elevate their voices, and help advance care for patients across the country.

To every oncology nurse supporting people affected by lung cancer: thank you for the care, expertise, and humanity you bring to your work every day.

When living with , it's reassuring to have someone powerful in your corner.
Sharing this from our inspiring colleagues in Mexico, Respirando Con Valor:
In the ring of life, health should always come first 🥊
And prevention is our best ally.
From the Health Fair at Arena Mexico, we appreciate the space to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of our respiratory health such as EPOCD and Lung Cancer. 🫁
Informing, preventing and acting on time can make all the difference.
Let's keep fighting for a better quality of life for all and all.

Highlighting inequalities in healthcare:
sharing this, with thanks and respect, from our colleagues in Greece, FairLife Φροντίδα και Πρόληψη για τον Καρκίνο του Πνεύμονα:
📌 Women and cancer need fairer policies.
European Cancer Organisation new European Women and Cancer Policy Index 2026 highlights an important reality: women's cancer needs are not equally met in all European countries.
Greece is at the lowest positions in the European Union, which indicates the need for more targeted policies of prevention, early diagnosis, care, quality of life and social protection.
For FairLife L.C.C., the message is clear: women's health cannot be dealt with fragments.
She needs information, access, equal care, and policies that really see every woman's needs — at every stage of her life.
Cancer has many faces.
The same should be done for the politicians that deal with him.

Life after a cancer diagnosis - how do things change?
Sharing this, with thanks and respect, from our colleagues in Brazil, Oncoguia:

This Labor Day, we invite you to reflect on a topic that hardly appears in conversations: what happens to working life when cancer kicks into routine?

Many people want to continue working, but encounter obstacles along the way:
🔹 Difficulty in balancing consultations and treatments with the journey
🔹 Lack of understanding in the work environment
🔹 Uncomfortable Comments
🔹 Sudden resignation

In other cases, it is not possible to continue. And then come new challenges, such as dealing with the effects of treatment, facing bureaucracy to leave work, thinking of new forms of income or still waiting for long processes to access benefits.

No one should have to choose between taking care of their own health and maintaining their professional dignity! People with cancer have the right to care, distance when necessary and decent working conditions.

👉 Because the patient's professional life also matters and needs to be considered!

️️ And talking about this subject is an important step. After all, talking about cancer is also talking about work, about possibilities and about ensuring that each person is seen in their entirety.

Now tell us in the comments: did you go back to work after the diagnosis? How was your experience?
