The Bronze Space Course focuses on space exploration, rocketry, satellites, and scientific impact. 🚀

The Syllabus overs space exploration and its scientific impact, the history and development of rocketry, legacy moon missions, orbital mechanics, space weather, and how satellites affect modern life on Earth. 🌍

Practical activities include interactive STEM tasks such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD) rocket design, team-based challenges, and sometimes 3D printing of winning models. 💻

Congratulations to cadets James & Thompson on gaining their bronze badges. 🌟

The Blue Radio Operator Course serves as an introductory level to communications and digital safety.

During the course cadets learn to be competent using a two-way radio for general administrative duties & small unit exercises, practicing proper voice procedure and communication etiquette. 🗣️

Under Cyber Awareness they have an introduction to cyber security; covering digital footprints, safe texting, social media safety, and cyber-bullying. 🚨

15 cadets completed the course and passed their practical assessment earning them selves their Blue Radios Badge 👏

Thank you to FS Hunter for assessing the participants 🕵️‍♂️

Well done to each and everyone one of you!
See you on the bronze course in April 2027!

Proud of our cadets!!!

Our cadets and staff have worked tirelessly over the weekend at Tesco Superstore, St Oswald Street!

They have been out both days smiling, grafting, and engaging with the community with a bucket collection all to raise money for the activities, resources, and opportunities.

Every coin dropped helps us fund exciting training, adventure days, and the gear that lets our young people push themselves further.

Massive thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far - you’re helping shape the next generation of leaders. ✈️

As some of you are aware we have recently promoted Collins E from Cadet to Corporal for her commitment, team working ability, resilience and consistent effort throughout her time at 1913 so far.

On top of her promotion CPL Collins E has also gained her MOI instructor’s qualification which means she has now been signed off to teach not only on squadron but at sector & wing level too.

They say it comes in threes so here come another speech 🎤

CPL Collins E has been awarded her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, She first completed her expedition in May 2026 and has worked tirelessly on Skill, Volunteering & physical to fulfil expectations of the award.

Please join me in congratulating her on all three points and wishing her well in her NCO position.

The 2026 1913 Squadron Dining In night, a very special occasion to dine out our old OC Flt Lt Tony Butler and welcome in the new OC Fg Off Gavin Ramejkis. A great evening to thank all of our cadets and their supporting parents and guardians and our tireless civilian committee and our Squadron President Lady Anne Dodd for a memorable year and give them a night, a nice meal, a disco and games. Special thanks to Duncan Nisbet for a quality performance as our DJ for the evening.

Here's to the new year and our next plans.
