Be careful in this extreme weather!
Pass on these top tips

Today is officially the hottest day of the year so far - and while we’re all enjoying the sunshine, it’s important to stay safe in the heat.

Heat exhaustion can come on quickly, especially when you’re out in the sun, exercising, or not drinking enough water.

Look for:
- headache
- dizziness and confusion
- loss of appetite and feeling sick
- sweating with pale, clammy skin
- cramps in the arms, legs, and stomach
- fast, weakening pulse and rapid breathing

Knowing the signs and what to do could help protect you or someone around you.

The North West Area proudly held a CPO / CSGT Board at Tameside Unit over the weekend of 23rd–24th May, with candidates supported throughout the assessment weekend by the Board directing staff and joined by Cdr Wellington RN, the North West Area Officer.

Despite the warm weather, all candidates demonstrated outstanding professionalism, commitment, and leadership during the weekend’s assessments. It was fantastic to see both Board Members and candidates enjoying a moment in the sunshine before the start of proceedings fr a group photograph.

Congratulations to all successful candidates, who were presented with certificates and promoted by Cdr Wellington RN.

A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in delivering the weekend, from the participants to the directing staff and board members, whose hard work and dedication ensured another successful event for the North West Area.

We wish all candidates the very best of luck in their future promotions and new leadership roles.

Cadets from across East Lancashire District and Sea Cadets Oxford proudly turned out in force to attend the Gallipoli Parade in Bury, paying their respects and honouring the bravery and sacrifice of those who served during the Gallipoli Campaign.

The parade provided a meaningful opportunity for our cadets to reflect on an important moment in history, remembering the courage, resilience, and determination. Representing their units with pride, our cadets demonstrated exceptional standards of discipline, turnout, and respect throughout the event.

Events like this are a powerful reminder of the values we uphold within the Sea Cadets, respect, remembrance, and service. It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with our shared history and playing an active role in commemorating those who gave so much.

A huge well done to all cadets and staff involved, your professionalism and conduct were a credit to East Lancashire District.
