⭐ National Cadets Week | Skills for Life

From Sea Cadets first aid training to national television! 🎥⚓

A very special shout-out to Junior Cadet Lily-Mae from Runcorn Sea Cadets, who will be appearing LIVE on GB News tomorrow, Saturday 10 October, at 11:45am!

Lily-Mae recently put her first aid training into action when a teacher suffered a medical emergency at school, demonstrating remarkable calmness, confidence and quick thinking.

Tomorrow, she'll be joining the London Air Ambulance team at the Royal London Hospital to share her experience and explain how Sea Cadets helped prepare her for that moment.

💙 A wonderful example of skills learned through cadets making a real difference when it matters most.

Runcorn Sea Cadets

⭐ Lily-Mae on GB News - Live Tomorrow! ⭐

We're incredibly proud to share that our very own Junior Cadet Lily-Mae will be appearing live on GB News tomorrow at 11:45am as part of National Cadets Week.

Lily-Mae has recently received recognition after putting her Sea Cadets first aid training into action when a teacher suffered a seizure at school. Remaining calm under pressure, she recognised a medical emergency, sought help and helped ensure the safety of those around her until staff arrived.

Tomorrow, Lily-Mae and her mum, Jenny, will be travelling to London to take part in a live interview from the Royal London Hospital alongside the London Air Ambulance team. During the visit, she'll also have the opportunity to meet members of the Air Ambulance crew and talk about how her Sea Cadets experience helped prepare her for such an important moment.

Lily-Mae's quick thinking, maturity and confidence have been a credit to herself, her family, her school and Runcorn Sea Cadets. Her story is a wonderful example of how the skills learned through cadets can make a real difference when it matters most.

What better way to celebrate National Cadets Week than showing family and friends what being a Sea Cadet is all about!

👏 Stockport Sea Cadets (TS Hawkins) put their skills into action with an evening of live demonstrations, showcasing the knowledge, confidence and teamwork developed through cadet training.

From practical challenges to working together (and apparently squeezing 10 people into a bivvy! 😮), a fantastic celebration of everything our cadets can achieve.

A big well done to the cadets and volunteers who made the evening possible! 💙

National Cadets Week | Skills for Life

There's so much more to Sea Cadets than meets the eye! ⚓

From navigation, meteorology and seamanship to engineering, STEM, first aid and fieldcraft. From drill and ceremonial duties to shooting, adventure training, leadership and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

On the water, cadets can explore sailing, rowing, paddlesports and powerboating, with opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications, including those from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

And that's just scratching the surface!

But it's not simply about the activities or qualifications. It's about what young people gain along the way.

Confidence, resilience, teamwork, independence, problem-solving and leadership — skills that make a difference at school, in the workplace and throughout life.

Today, we're celebrating the incredible variety of opportunities available to Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets across North West Area.

❤️‍🩹 National Cadets Week | Cadets Save Lives

Cadet training isn’t just about gaining qualifications — sometimes those skills are needed for real.

Earlier this year, Amelia put her first aid training into action when she came across a young person who was unresponsive and not breathing normally.

A remarkable example of the confidence, calmness and practical skills our cadets develop through their training.

Well done, Amelia. 👏💙

Newton le Willows Sea Cadets

On a Friday night, while attending a party with friends, Amelia came across a young girl who had collapsed and was unconscious on the floor. Recognising that the casualty was unresponsive and not breathing normally, Amelia immediately relied on the first aid skills she had learned through her cadet training.
After calling 999 for emergency assistance, Amelia began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), providing continuous chest compressions while following the instructions of the emergency call handler. Thanks to her quick actions and calm approach under pressure, the young person regained consciousness before the arrival of the ambulance.
Amelia remained with the casualty, offering reassurance and continuing to monitor her condition until the ambulance crew arrived. She then provided a clear handover to the paramedics, explaining the events, the CPR she had administered, and the casualty's response. Her confidence, professionalism, and decisive actions demonstrated the real value of the training she had received and played a vital role in helping the young person receive the best possible care.

Today, Sea Cadets Sefton are recognising the volunteers who help keep their unit moving — supporting, planning, fundraising and creating opportunities for young people.

A fitting reminder during National Cadets Week that every role matters.

None of this happens without our volunteers!
