Researched by historian Greg Quiery and gifted to the Liverpool Irish Famine Trail, the tour brings to life some of the colourful characters who populated this part of the city.

The Celtic Origins of Halloween, a fascinating FREE talk by John Maguire, exploring the ancient traditions and folklore behind one of the world’s most popular celebrations.

Dr John Maguire is an award-winning writer, heritage researcher and broadcaster, recently featured on Channel 5’s Great British Cities with Susan Calman. His work brings overlooked historical figures, folklore and working-class heritage to life, with acclaimed projects exploring subjects including An Gorta Mór, Kitty Wilkinson and William Roscoe.

This talk takes us on a journey through Samhain, ancient Celtic folklore and old British traditions, exploring how seasonal rituals and beliefs evolved over time to become the Halloween customs we know today.
