šŸ„” An Inquest Concerning Teeth: Crisp Buttys and Storytelling is the last of our supported workshop series of the summer! šŸ„”

šŸžThis is a writing workshop that will be delivered by Chandana Das, which will use the humble crisp butty as a starting point, inspiration, and muse.šŸž

✨Chandana Das is a writer and teacher from the Wirral. She is an English graduate from Liverpool University and holds an MA in Creative Writing from LJMU. She has run writing workshops for young people with SEMH and was a runner up at Liverpool’s Pulp Idol Writing Competition. Her writing interests include memory, duality, and the female experience and she is currently working on her first novel. She loves dark and complicated stories and has never met a cat she didn’t like.✨

🄪Her favourite crisp butty is made with two slices of white bread, spread with Philadelphia cheese, filled with a pack of skips and a slice of Gouda; all covered with Hellmans Mayonnaise.🄪

Please note: to avoid food waste, please make sure you refund your ticket via eventbrite, if you decide you can’t make it. This also ensures anyone on the waiting list can take your place. The AICT project is about slow food and supporting local businesses and artists so it is extremely important to us that we avoid food waste and empty seats.

The last of our Open Crits is next Thursday 28th August!

Come down to our studios, meet other artists, get feedback on work or works in progress, develop your practice, discover new avenues of research.

Last month we saw and discussed robotics and intimacy, film and the pandemic, a piece of brutalist architecture and painting, printmaking and workshops, and ceramics and book making. We shared advice on exhibiting small works, funding, and learning to work with new mediums.

Book you place via the link in our linktree!

That’s a wrap!

Thanks to for contributing your work to REITERATIONS.

Thank you to all that visited the show but more importantly for the conversations about how artists archive, how current limitations, scarcity of space, and sustainability are shaping the way artists make work, your hopes and advice for artist-led spaces, and all of the reminiscing and lamenting about ways in which the art world has changed over the last couple of decades.

We will see you at the next one!

SAVE THE DATE!

REITERATIONS is a group exhibition of works created by TRS members, past and present, opening on the 8th August at 6pm.

Current Studio Members and Alumni show work together in this intimate retrospective of The Royal Standard’s impact on the development of artistic practice, a demonstration of the resourcefulness of artists, and a reflection on the sustainability of artist-led spaces.

Through the exhibition of works and ideas inherited by the studio over the last 19 years, materials and documents from the archives, and newer works from inside and outside the TRS studios, we reiterate the necessity of affordable studio space for artists.

This exhibition will run until the 16th August, coinciding with our next Studio Open Day.
