A huge congratulations to all the young people receiving their GCSE results today. Whatever your grades, remember that this is one moment in your journey - not a measure of your potential.

Today, our team attended the Youth Trailblazer grant funded vacancy event at MYA Youth Hub on Hanover street, hosted by Liverpool City Council

The event brought together local businesses offering grant-funded vacancies, giving the young people we support the chance to meet employers, explore opportunities, hand out CV’s, and have meaningful conversations about their next steps.

Are you aged 18–21 and struggling to find work, training, or your next opportunity?

The Big Trust Employment Programme, delivered in partnership with Liverpool City Council and Youth Trailblazer, is here to help.

We support young people who are currently not in education, employment, or training (NEET) through personalised one-to-one mentoring. Our support is flexible and tailored to each individual, helping you build confidence, overcome barriers, and work towards a sustainable employment, education, or training outcome.

✅ Aged 18–21
✅ Not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET)
✅ Living in the Liverpool City Region (areas with purple bins)

A huge thank you to Steph and Colin from DT Hughes Group for spending time with The Big Trust and our young people today.

It was brilliant to hear about the important work DT Hughes does across Liverpool, helping to connect communities that so many of us rely on everyday. Steph and Colin also gave a really encouraging insight into the current and future opportunities that may be available within the business, showing young people the many different pathways construction can offer.

We were especially to hear about the DT Hughes Foundation and the work it is doing to support mental health in the construction industry. Construction continues to have one of the highest rates of work-related su***de among UK industries, with estimates placing the risk around three times higher than the national average.
This makes the foundation’s work - raising awareness, encouraging honest conversations and providing access to mental health support - so important.

Providing this support takes real investment. If you know of any funding, sponsorship or donation opportunities that can help the foundation continue and grow its fantastic work, please get in touch!

Thank you again, Steph and Colin for sharing your time, and experience and passion with us. We’re excited to see what opportunities may come next for young people across our region.

The Big Trust have seen a heartbreaking rise in male su***de recently, and it's a reminder of just how important it is to check in on the men around us - friends, brothers, dads, teammates, colleagues.

There is support available from Andys Man Club Mind and Samaritanswho are offering safe spaces to talk and get help early.

Mental health struggles don't always show on the surface. Sometimes the people seem "fine" are carrying the heaviest weight.

If you're struggling, you don't have to do it alone. Reaching out is strength, not weakness.
