🎣 IT’S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT THE BIGGEST FISH… 💚

In fishing, it’s easy to focus on how big the fish was.

But on our Primal sessions, some of the moments we’re proudest of have absolutely nothing to do with the weight on the scales.

🐟 A child’s first ever fish.

🎯 The first time they cast out completely on their own.

🙌 The first time they bait their own hook, land their own fish or safely return it without needing help.

💚 A young person who was nervous at their first session suddenly chatting away and making new friends.

🎣 Or simply seeing a child discover something they genuinely enjoy doing outdoors.

That little fish they’re holding might not look like much to everyone else… but to them, it could mean everything.

That’s why we celebrate every catch and every bit of progress.

Because we’re not just trying to create better anglers.

We’re helping young people build confidence, patience, independence, resilience and a connection with the outdoors.

The big fish are brilliant…

But sometimes the smallest fish create the biggest smiles. 🎣💚

🎣 WHICH PRIMAL SESSION IS RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD? 💚

With our new sessions starting in September, we’ve had lots of parents getting in touch asking which session would be best for their child.

The simple answer is — it doesn’t matter whether they’ve never held a fishing rod before or they’re already a keen young angler. We have different sessions to help them progress.

🌱 NEW TO FISHING? — GET FISHING

The perfect place to start.

Our Get Fishing sessions introduce young people to angling in a fun and supportive environment, teaching the basics including casting, baiting, catching fish, fish identification, fish care and safely returning their catch.

🎣 ALREADY FISHING? — DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS

If your child already fishes but wants to improve, we can help them take that next step.

We’ll work on their casting, accuracy, tackle, rigs, baiting, watercraft and help them become a more confident and independent young angler.

🐟 WANT TO GET INTO CARP FISHING? — CARP ACADEMY

For young anglers wanting to take their carp fishing further.

From rigs and bait application to finding spots, casting accurately, playing bigger fish and correct carp care — we help them develop the skills and knowledge needed to become confident carp anglers.

👤 NEED MORE INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT?

We also offer more personalised tuition and support for young people who may benefit from a smaller, quieter environment or more one-to-one guidance.

And whichever route they start on, the aim is the same…

Build confidence. Learn new skills. Spend time outdoors. Make new friends. And most importantly — enjoy fishing. 💚

🎣 PRIMAL PROGRESS — JACOB 💚

This is exactly what we love to see.

Jacob has been with us since the very beginning, and watching how much he has developed as an angler has been brilliant.

From learning the basics and understanding different baits, rigs and tackle, to improving his casting, fish care and knowledge of the water — he has taken everything we’ve taught him and continued to build on it.

But some of the biggest improvements aren’t just about fishing.

🎯 Determination when things aren’t going his way
⏳ Patience when the fish aren’t playing ball
🧠 Problem solving and thinking about what he could change
💪 Confidence to do things independently
🎣 And the skills to go out and enjoy his own fishing

That’s what makes these pictures so good to see.

Our aim isn’t for young people to only be able to fish while they’re on a Primal session. We want to give them the knowledge, confidence and skills to continue enjoying angling away from us too.

Seeing Jacob getting out on the lakes, putting everything he’s learned into practice and catching some cracking fish for himself shows exactly what it’s all about. 👏🐟

Keep it going, Jacob. You’ve come a long way since those first sessions and there’s plenty more to come! 💚🎣

🎣 WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS ON A PRIMAL FISHING SESSION? 💚

One of the questions we often get from parents is…

“My child has never been fishing before — does that matter?”

Absolutely not! In fact, that’s exactly what our beginner sessions are for. 🙌

At Primal Mentality, we don’t just hand a child a fishing rod and wait for a fish to come along. Our sessions are about learning, getting involved and building confidence every step of the way.

During our sessions, young people can learn:

🎣 How to safely set up and use fishing equipment
🎯 Casting and improving accuracy
🪱 Different baits and how to use them
🐟 How to recognise different species of fish
💪 How to play and safely land a fish
💚 Correct fish handling and fish care
🌿 Respect for wildlife and the environment
🙌 How to safely return their catch to the water

And alongside all those angling skills, they’re developing patience, concentration, independence, confidence and resilience — often without even realising it.

There’s no pressure to be the best angler or catch the biggest fish.

For some children, catching their very first fish is the achievement.

For others, it’s casting independently for the first time, learning to unhook a fish safely or simply having the confidence to try something new.

Every child starts somewhere. 🎣💚

Never fished before? Perfect.

Our beginner sessions are designed to introduce young people to angling in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment.

🎣🌹 OUR VERY OWN AMELIA ROSE 🌹🎣

How amazing is our little ambassador doing! 💚

Amelia first picked up a fishing rod at just 3 years old, and watching her journey from those first little fish to the angler she is becoming today has been incredible.

Fast forward to 2026 and what a year she is having…

🔥 FOUR 30lb+ carp already this year!
🏆 Some incredible achievements along the way
🎣 Fishing some fantastic venues
🐟 Catching fish many anglers would love to have in their album
💚 And most importantly, still absolutely loving every minute on the bank!

From that little girl holding her first fish with a massive smile on her face, to now getting behind some seriously impressive carp — these photos really show just how far she has come.

She listens, learns, puts the effort in and absolutely loves her fishing. Taught by the best of course… her dad! 😉🎣😂

But seriously, we couldn’t be prouder of her.

Amelia represents exactly what we want to encourage through Primal Mentality CIC — getting children into angling from a young age, giving them opportunities, building their confidence and letting their passion grow.

We are incredibly proud to have Amelia Rose as one of our Primal Mentality Ambassadors, inspiring other young anglers and showing them just what is possible.

And she’s only 9 years old… 🤯

We’re getting ready to start our new fishing sessions this September, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back — as well as plenty of new faces! 🙌

Our sessions are about so much more than simply catching fish.

One of the best things we see through our sessions is the friendships being made along the way.

Young people arriving not knowing each other, then fishing together, helping net each other’s catches, sharing advice, having a laugh and building friendships that continue beyond the bank.

For some young people, making new friends and feeling part of something can be just as important as catching a fish.

Fishing brings them together. The friendships are the real catch. 🎣🤝💚
