Liverpool City Council has issued a warning that Queens Drive and other roads may be liable to flash flooding this evening or overnight following a thunderstorm warning from the Met Office.

There is a chance that this may result in the automatic barriers closing on Queens Drive under the bridge if the sensors detect standing water there.

Consultation launched on greater restrictions on HMOs (Houses of Multiple Occupation).

Last year many of you signed the Lib Dem petition calling on Liverpool City Council to extend the current restrictions on HMOs to include areas like L18, this follows a rise in number of local homes being converted by developers seeking to make a bigger profit.

Currently Liverpool City Council allows small HMOs (those with 5 bedrooms or less) to be opened in suburban areas like L18 without planning permission, this means that our community has no say over the noise, bin storage and parking problems that HMOs can create in residential neighbourhoods.

If you share or concern over the increasing number of homes being converted into HMOs, please complete the council's consultation here https://form.typeform.com/to/suybHlVo

The council is legally required to show that there is a problem being caused by the explosion in HMOs across Liverpool before they can extend these restrictions. Your concerns and experiences are vital in helping prove the case for taking action.

Work on the second Calderstones Play Area will start on Wednesday 2nd September.

Local Lib Dem councillors Liz and Andrew Makinson fought for this work after parents said that the playground opened last year did not have enough equipment for over 7 year olds.

This new play area will feature climbing nets and similar equipment, and will be build opposite the existing playground.

It is expected that construction will take 3 to 4 weeks. The existing play area will remain open for use throughout this work, however part of the footpath will be fenced off.

In the next few weeks the existing wooden climbing equipment in the woodland area will be removed, as it has come to the end of its design life.
