With Heavy Hearts – Allerton Sensory Rooms is Closing Down
We never thought we’d be writing this.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Allerton Sensory Rooms on April 24th 2025.
After giving everything we have to this space, this community, and the families who’ve become like family to us — we simply can’t keep going.
Like so many small businesses right now, we’re facing impossible financial pressures. The recent economic policies introduced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves have placed an unbearable strain on businesses like ours — the ones trying to make a real difference on the ground. The rising costs, the lack of support, and the feeling of being left behind… it’s all become too much.
This isn’t just about a business closing. It’s about a lifeline being lost. A safe space for children who found calm here, for parents who finally felt understood, for carers who could breathe for a moment — all gone, not because the need disappeared, but because the system made it unsustainable to keep giving.
We’re heartbroken. We’re angry. And we’re deeply sad.
To every child who smiled here, every parent who cried here, every visitor who felt seen here — thank you. You’ve filled this space with purpose and light, and we will carry that with us always.
This isn't how we wanted the story to end. But we hope the impact will live on — in the memories, in the lives touched, and maybe one day, in a better system that values the work small places like ours do.
With all our love,
The Allerton Sensory Rooms Team
