Merseyside Live Steam & Model Engineers Open to the public for rides on Sunday afternoons 1400-1600 and on Tuesday's for maintenance. The Rides are free, although donations are gratefully accepted.

We are a small model engineering club whose main aim is to put smiles on the faces of Liverpool children sometime around or after 2pm on a Sunday. We do this with the help of our miniature railway, which is at the northern end of Calderstones Park in Liverpool. MLS&ME also meets for maintenance and other social activities on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm in the clubhouse, which is in the middle of our 600 foot track. Actually, there are two tracks, one at ground level (dual 5" and 7¼" gauge) and the other elevated (dual 3½" and 5" gauge). The ground level track is a simple circular loop, whilst the elevated track has been extended into a shape something more like a russian doll! New members of all ages are always welcome; just come along on a Sunday or Tuesday.

Another busy day today at Calderstones! We opened to the public and ran trains at our Harthill site as usual, but also attended the Heritage Day at Calderstones Manor House, having a display there as part of the event showcasing what groups, organisations and events make up Calderstones Park.

We've had one of our busiest Sundays of the year today (not including our special events), sunny and warm, a slight hint of Autumn in the air, but a fine day for miniature railwaying and lots of visitors!

Steam and electric traction hauled our passengers on the raised track while a goods train demonstration ran on the ground level line.

Meanwhile, our garden railway was as popular as ever, and this attraction at the club turns One Year Old tomorrow! Hard to believe 12 months has gone by, but in that time the gardens around it have been planted up, a steaming bay added and many trains run to the enjoyment of both our members, visitors and guests! The club has been running 5" trains at Harthill since 1950, so we can now boast we've also been running SM32 trains since 2025.

This weekend we will be attending Liverpool Model Railway Societys Annual Exhibition, at Old Christ Church, Waterloo! We will have our portable 5" track setup outside, so come along to the show, and don't forget to come and have a ride on our train!

Another sunny Sunday, with plenty of trains running, both our 5" gauge raised track, and ground line in use, plus the Garden Railway entertaining our visitors!

We open to the public and offer train rides every Sunday afternoon, weather permitting, at our Harthill Road, Calderstones Park, site. Donations very welcome.

We had a superb day yesterday for our Summer Gala, beautiful sunshine and many happy visitors!

Trains ran continually from 11am until after 4pm, and with 3 trains running, we had over 600 passengers enjoy a ride!

Nearly 100 of our younger visitors completed our activity sheets, many more won prizes on our tombola, Refreshments were popular all day, particularly our selection of cakes, and our lucky winner for the Raffle Prize was ticket No. 164!

The club members were also proud to showcase their Miniature trains, locos, and projects, ranging from our ever popular Garden Railway, with a wide variety of locomotives and trains which operated all day, to our demonstration Goods train that ran on our ground level 5" line.

Thanks to all our visitors for their donations and support!

Don't forget, we open every Sunday afternoon (weather and volunteers permitting) and are always looking for new members who are able to join us and help with projects, continue with site, track and train maintenance or bring their own locos and trains!

Entry is free! Donations for rides gratefully accepted.

(Unfortunately we are currently having problems with our card readers, so please bring cash to make ride donations, purchase refreshments, tombola and raffle tickets.)
