CALLING ALL HIGH SCHOOLS, YOUTH GROUPS, CHURCH GROUPS AND UNIFORMED ORGANISATIONS
Do you know a young person between the ages of 15 and 19 who gives wonderful service to their community?
Projects may include supporting the elderly, working with and for children, feeding the hungry, helping the less fortunate and volunteering in a variety of areas.
Your Crosby & District Lions Club would love to know about these young people with a view to giving them an opportunity to take their project forward and to take part in a weekend of fun and friendship with other young people who serve their communities, in our national Young Ambassador programme.

The end of an era! After over 30 years of helping Crosby and District Lions Club fundraise, Rajah is finally returning to his roots at Halton Mill near Lancaster. He has visited there a couple of times over the years but we have now passed him over. He was collected today from his ‘stable’ and loaded onto his trailer. Many thanks go to Peter and Pauline who garaged Rajah for the best part of 28 years. We hope he will create many more happy memories in his new home.

At the beginning of July the Club held its Handover when the outgoing club president, Lion June Pomroy, handed over the chain of office to the incoming President, Lion David Pomroy. The BBQ was hosted by Lion Ivan and Lorna and a good time was had by all enjoying the lovely weather.

As one of our social activities, an informative and most enjoyable walk around Lunt Meadows & Wetlands Nature Reserve was held recently. The weather was really good to us.

What a cracking night on Saturday at Moor Lane Methodist Church. Our 'Choirfest' featured five choirs, all very different, in a thoroughly entertaining evening which was enjoyed by all. We were entertained by Crosby Community Choir, In Another Place Gospel Choir, Bootle Strand Diversity Choir, Songbirds and the Aughton Male Voice Choir. To top the evening off, all five choirs joined together with full audience participation in singing 'Hey Jude'.

Last month, on Saturday 18th April, saw Crosby & District Lions celebrate their 42nd Charter Anniversary at West Lancashire Golf Club. District Governor Ian Francis, District Governor Elect John Fitchett and Lion Samantha Fitchett along with Lions and friends from around the District joined Crosby Lions for the evening.
Lion President June was delighted to welcome two new members into the Club, Lion Graham Wise and Lion Sarah Jolley.
There was sadness as the Club acknowledged the recent passing of Lion John Hall who was due to receive a Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF), the highest award that Lions can give in recognition of his over 40 years service to the community through Lions. The award was made posthumously and accepted by President June and will be passed on to John's family.
The guest speaker was Mr David Hird, Headteacher of Netherton Moss Primary School, who spoke fondly of Lion John as David was a pupil at Forefield Lane Junior School where John taught for over forty years.
