We have had quite a few new followers so thought id explain a bit about us.
Hi my name is Hannah and I am the founder of Rooting for You Liverpool, the idea came about when I was undergoing a massive turning point in my life, I was freshly out of a mentally draining marriage and facing the world again with fresh, scared, excited, terrified, unknowing eyes. It was when I left that I realised how detrimental the marriage was to my own mental health but mainly the heavy impact it brought upon my children.
I had mental health difficulties for many years and it wasn't until I left the home that I could understand how deep my trauma was from living in constant fight or flight . Rooting for You was created to become a safe place to be able to vent and speak truthfully without always needing someone to fix the situation or to want to produce answers.
when I was struggling I knew what needed to be done but sometimes I just needed to verbally dump what was in my head without having to explain how or why I felt that way, Rooting for You wasn't created to fix situations or even to have the answers it is simple somewhere where you can gain reassurance, a hand hold and a cup of tea and a biscuit.
When you live in an anxious state and struggle with intrusive thoughts you can lose sight of your own abilities and your own mind, you forget how to trust your own judgement and how to hold your own opinions, Rooting For You is here to remind you, we always have the answers we just need someone to remind us that we are capable and able to achieve anything and we can be our own person without the judgement of others around us.
When we have mental health difficulties the world can be overwhelming, loud and unwelcoming, at Rooting for you we want to help you with the little wins, the little glimmers and a phrase you will hear a lot around the office is 'its a bad day not a bad life' or even 'just keep swimming'
All the volunteers at Rooting for you have
their own mental health stories so we can offer a
level of understanding .
We have all come together with the want to
help others in similar situations learn
how to face the world again,
the door is always open and the kettle
is most definitely always boiled.
