Thank you to everyone who came and supported our 5th Family Fun Day last week. This year the weather was great, a light breeze which was lovely no rain ☔️ and it was lovely and sunny 😎. It got a bit hot towards the end of the afternoon but it was bearable.

Some of the photos are when we’d finished setting up and people were beginning to trickle in but we had a terrific number of visitors which was fantastic.

Thank you to all our stallholders and the classic cars, scooters, American trucks and super cars for coming to, they all made quite a spectacle!

Our Sponsors help to keep the cost of running the day affordable, as every penny we raise goes towards helping to support people living with motor neurone disease in our local community.

We have a core number of Supporters, who help us each year, providing prizes, singers giving their time freely, and Worthing Lions who provide marshals to help direct vehicles on site safely.

Last, but definitely not least, I want to thank all the helpers who arrived on the Green early in the morning to put up gazebo’s, tables, mark out the dog show and generally put up with me asking them to do stuff!!

Please see the attached flyer with the dates for the South Downs Way Disability Challenge. It was the brainchild of Andy Davis who was arranging this event before he passed away recently and who lived with a neurological disability. His aim was to raise awareness and highlight access for everyone on the South Downs Way. In his memory, please support and join a walk if you can.

DISABILITY CHALLENGE

In honour of her friend, one of our lovely volunteers would like you to know about this event.

The‘ Andy Davies Memorial event’ is being held in honour of Andy
(a dear friend) who died recently having lived with a neurological disability. He had a passion for outdoor pursuits and his aim for the event is to encourage people with disability to use the South Downs Way. It is open to all - families, children, dogs on leads etc.
The Taster walks are for the less able, who would not be able to manage the challenge held on Tuesday 28th July from Cocking Hill Carpark to Whiteways (14.5.km - part of the South Downs Way). It is not a fundraising event, but individuals could raise money for a charity of their choice.

A huge thank you to Barns Green RFU for presenting us with a cheque for £2,000 ... another fantastic fundraising effort from them. They are great supporters of our West Sussex South branch and also other charities including Wooden Spoon Children's Charity and The Changing Room Renovation Project, who were both there collecting cheques too.

The club has also donated two tickets for England Vs Japan which is due to be played at the Allianz Stadium (Twickenham) on Saturday 14 November 2026. The tickets will be raffled during our Family Fun Day on Sunday 5th July on Broadwater Green, Worthing. Come along and buy your tickets for a chance to win these prize tickets.

What a pleasure it was to be invited to the Barns Green Rugby Football Club Vice Presidents lunch recently. One again the club presented us with a cheque after fundraising through their 'Tash for Cash' event which raised a massive £2,000 for our West Sussex South branch. A huge thank you to James Dickson who is the mastermind behind the event.

Vice President, Alan Lambkin and his team made me feel very welcome and lunch was delicious. The club is currently looking for new contact players and would welcome enquiries from anyone who is interested. Please contact the club through their online email form at www.barnsgreenrfc.co.uk

Barns Green have raised £12,000 for us and we thank them for all their tremendous support. The money they have raised has enabled us to help many of our people living with MND in the community.

5 years since starting Santas on the Seafront 🎅 for MNDA West Sussex South. 5 years since Stuart Acaster passed away from this awful disease (29/3/66-1/8/20). What an awesome day and beautiful sunshine! We raised awareness and vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease (total to follow). Over 50 people in Christmas attire with ‘Christmas Cracker’ Clare winning best dressed! Jordan P1 and Mark P2 males and Emma Nobes P1 and Annette Maynard P2 females! Thank you to all my buddies at Run Academy Worthing for their continued support. Also ‘Santas little helpers’ Claire Sue K and Kate and planning dudes Judith, Martin and Alastair.
