Littlehampton & District Foodbank

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to go hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people from Littlehampton, Rustington, East Preston, Angmering and Arundel who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by Trussell, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Foodbank sessio

ns run from the rear hall of Littlehampton United Church, and are open for appointments between 1pm and 3pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. For advice on how to obtain a foodbank voucher please see https://littlehamptondistrict.foodbank.org.uk/get-help/how-to-get-help, or get in touch with us on 07925 862289 or at [email protected].

πŸ’š National Volunteer's Week Spotlight: Meet Cecily! πŸ’š

This National Volunteer Week, we're celebrating the incredible people who make our food bank possible. Today, we're shining a spotlight on Cecily, one of our dedicated volunteers whose kindness and commitment help make a difference in our community every week.

How long have you been volunteering?
" I have been volunteering for 1.5 years at the foodbank, 4 years at Turning Tides and I also help out at a lunch club near my home."

What made you decide to start volunteering?
" It's outrageous that people don't have enough money to feed themselves. Also, I just really like volunteering, interacting between the team and clients and just talking to people. Being retired, I don't want it to seem like I am a passenger in society."

πŸ‘ Join us in thanking Cecily for her outstanding contribution!

Why helping our local community matters?

Following on from our recent announcement about our partnership with the Littlehampton & District Foodbank, we wanted to share a bit more about why this partnership means so much to us.

Our link with the Foodbank began through former Managing Director and shareholder of Lunds, Bill Lee, who introduced our current MD Shaun to the Foodbank team. From the outset, there was a shared desire to do something practical that would make a real difference locally.

At Lunds, we want to support where it genuinely matters - both for people in the wider community and for those closest to us. With the cost of essentials continuing to rise, it felt important to step in in a way that is simple, useful and sustainable.

From those early conversations, Bill has continued to play a personal role in helping move things forward, including supporting the process to secure a shipping container for the Foodbank which is now installed, helping to bring storage on-site and reduce ongoing costs.

It’s been a very hands-on effort from everyone involved, and we’re delighted to see something that started as a conversation turn into practical support that will make a lasting difference.
