Wild Oxfordshire People and nature - making connections

11/06/2026

Great Big Green Week kicks off on June 6th (6th-14th), the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.

Alongside our WISH partners we’ll be celebrating on Saturday 13th June from 10am - 1.30pm with our Great Big Green Week Finale!

Join us for our plant-based cafe, insect ID-ing, art and craft activities with Art-K Oxford, badge-making, a surplus food pop up and more alongside our usual community volunteering session and our produce market.

If the weather’s looking iffy just don your wellies, grab a brolly and come and celebrate the amazing community action that yourselves, us and our WISH partners are involved in 🙌

Together we can make a difference 🌍

World Bee Day is celebrated each year to raise global awareness of the importance of pollinators. Today, bees and other pollinators and insects are declining in abundance, but the good news is that with a few simple choices, every garden, balcony and shared green space can become a haven for them. 🐝

At Wild Oxfordshire, we are working to create a county where pollinators can thrive.

Our ‘Bee Healthy’ gardens are an inspiring example of how small, urban, green spaces can contribute to expanding the availability of food for pollinators. Together with the Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, we have created 'bee-friendly' flower borders for pollinators, that both the public and health-care staff can benefit from.

And across our website, you’ll find practical resources that work for you, from bee‑friendly planting to creating a bumblebee home, showing how everyone can support these vital species.
Just visit our guidance page on Pollinators!

With a few small changes to how we manage our public and private green spaces, we can bring major benefits for the creatures that call them home, and help keep Oxfordshire buzzing. 🐝🌻
