We were delighted to take part in the 100 Days of Salford event, joining the Loopline parade from Little Hulton to Parr Fold Park.

What a fantastic day! The route was full of people, creating a wonderful sense of community as we walked together. A special mention has to go to the samba band, who were absolutely brilliant and kept the rhythm going throughout the walk, bringing so much energy and fun to the event.

A huge thank you to Stewart Thomas John Knights for organising such a successful event, along with all of the volunteers, security staff and first aiders who helped make the day run so smoothly.

It was fantastic to see so many people from across our communities coming together, enjoying the outdoors, meeting new people and celebrating everything that makes Salford special ❤️

It wasn't as busy as we thought today in our cafe, however thank you so much to those who turned up today. It was nice lovely chatting about old times and seeing some fantastic items brought in.

Can we all just appreciate the drawing that the lovely Phyllis did today too. How amazing ♥️

⭐ Case Study (shared with permission)⭐

One gentleman in his late 70s was referred to Supportive Spaces CIC feeling extremely isolated and lonely following the loss of his mum and losing contact with family members since then. He described feeling disconnected from others and unsure about engaging with support, as he had a general distrust of services.

To begin with, he felt most comfortable receiving weekly telephone befriending calls. Having regular chats with someone who listened without judgement helped him slowly build trust and confidence.

As the weeks went on, his mood improved and he began speaking more positively about getting out and reconnecting with people, though his physical disabilities were also an issue. After I discussed a local social group with him several weeks prior, he recently attended the group for the first time last week — something he previously never thought he would do.

Although it was a big step for him, he enjoyed the experience and is now considering attending again. This shows how small, consistent support and simply having someone to talk to can help people feel more connected and less alone.

Building trust gradually and offering person-centred support that meets individuals where they are, is so important in helping people make positive changes. ♥️
