The beekeeping season is almost upon us!
And, so too, will be swarm season!
So, to prepare you for any sightings of swarms you may see, we are a registered swarm collector for Merseyside.
If you see a few thousand to tens of thousands of bees clustered together on a tree branch, wall, bench or car bonnet (that was my first catch, on an old yellow Fiat!) then give me a buzz (ahem) - send me a dm or contact through the BBKA swarm catching page.
If you are not familiar with honeybees, you may think they’re wasps as they’re not cute and fluffy (well, they are cute). If you have other bee issues like bumble bees (who are big and fluffy) or solitary bees (they can look like hairy flying ants or mini bumble bees) then drop me a dm as I can support on their situation.
Swarm removal is often free if it’s an easy catch and bumble and solitary is something I can give advice in and move bumble nests if necessary.
For any of my beekeeping students or groups who would like to help catch a swarm with me this spring and summer, get in touch. I’d love for you to be a part of this amazing learning experience

For reference, if you do see a swarm, please be careful around them. A new swarm can be fairly calm but a swarm that has been hanging around for at least 2 days can be hangry. Never prod or poke them or antagonise them in anyway. Block the access to them if they are near a public or useable space.
