Today we met with new Garda Liaison Legacy Unit and it is clear that if it is to have a positive impact on legacy that it requires the maximum possible latitude to do so.

The Irish Government must commit to the optimum level of disclosure, it must move beyond its begrudging minimalist approach.

Unionists have savaged the Irish government’s Troubles approach after it was revealed that letters from the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery (ICRIR) are going unanswered.

Father’s Day Message - Sunday 21st June 2026

Our thoughts today are with all those who grieve the loss of an earthly Dad from their lives.

Because of the impact of terrorism many families had a father stolen away, we acknowledge the pain of those who were denied the special relationships they should have enjoyed and which no human being had a right to end.

And we mourn the inability of so many young men cut down through terrorism denied the right to ever be Dads.

We too think of Dad’s who had children ripped away from them and who will not receive cards today to mark Father’s Day.

And across our membership and the wider community we think of all who miss or are without Dad’s in whatever circumstances this occurs.

May you take some comfort from the knowledge that God (The Father of all of us) is the one constant that will always be there.

To those blessed to have a Dad who is available to be involved in your life, cherish them today and always.
