Lisburn Community Choir

Lisburn Community Choir Lisburn Community Choir is an inter-denominational choir with a membership of 110 adults and 30 primary school children in its children's choir.

Lisburn Community Choir and Children’s Choir are inclusive, non-audition choirs open to children and adults of all backgrounds who share a love of music and community. We practice every Monday night in Lisburn Cathedral - children from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and adults from 7.30 - 8.30pm. OUR GOAL

"Through singing, people of all religions, race and cultural diversity share a community spirit - a sense

of belonging, where no-one is lonely or feels uncared for. Where the shared love of music and singing brings companionship, mutual support and a smile to every face." Julie Harper, Musical Director

☀️Sunshine, Song & Special Moments at Horatio’s Garden 🪴🎶

We had a wonderful time today at Horatio's Garden in Musgrove Park Hospital, sharing words of hope and comfort through music with the patients, families, and staff of the Spinal Injuries Unit.

We had been hoping for dry weather, but were delighted when some beautiful sunny spells appeared while we were singing, making our visit even more special. ☀️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone for the warm welcome, especially to the marvellous gardener Matthew for preparing such a beautiful setting, and to the staff who kindly treated us to much-appreciated ice lollies at the end of our hour-long programme!

🏃‍♂️🎶 30 Days. 150 Kilometres. One Purpose. 🎶🏃‍♂️

Starting on Friday 19th June, Lisburn Community Choir Director Tim Reynolds and choir member David Challinor will be taking on a challenge to support both Lisburn Community Choir and the Children’s Community Choir.

For 30 consecutive days, Tim and David will run 5K every day, raising funds to support two exciting and important projects within our choir family.

Many of our members have been working hard to raise money for the choir’s first tour in 13 years, as we prepare to take 85 singers to Wales to share our message of hope, joy and community with new audiences. Funds raised through this challenge will help make that tour possible.

They also hope to raise money for the Children’s Community Choir, helping us create a rehearsal space that is brighter, warmer and more engaging for our young singers, with new resources that will enrich their experience and encourage their love of music.

If you’ve been encouraged by either choir, believe in the power of music to bring people together, or are passionate about supporting local organisations in Lisburn that create positive connections across our community, we would be so grateful for your support.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.

💙 To donate, simply click the link below.

Thank you for helping us continue bringing people from all walks of life together through music, friendship and a shared sense of purpose.

Lisburn Community Children’s Choir has finished another fantastic year of music, friendship, and fun with our end-of-year treasure hunt party. We’ve loved sharing two concerts and lots of great memories together throughout the year.

While we’re taking a break for the summer, we have places available for children who love to sing, want to build confidence, and would enjoy making new friends from schools across the area.

Our vision has always been to make music, build confidence, and create community—and we’re excited about the year ahead, including a special Christmas Concert at Lisburn Cathedral and a Disney-themed Spring Concert in Belfast.

🎶 Mondays, 6:30–7:20pm at Lisburn Cathedral
🎶 Open to children from Primary 4 to Year 10 (2nd Year Senior School)

GOODBYE😢 …HELLO! 👋🏼

At our end-of-term children’s choir party last night, we said a sad goodbye and a big hello!

We wished our wonderful choir member Rory all the best as he and his family prepare to move away. Rory has been a fantastic part of the choir for the past couple of years, and he will be greatly missed.

We also got to welcome baby June, the newest addition to choir leader Rosie’s family. The children were delighted to finally meet her and catch up with Rosie.

We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of new faces in September too! If your child would like to join this fantastic group, get in touch.

🎶 One of the joys of being a community choir is sharing our music beyond the concert stage and bringing it into the heart of our community.

🌿 On Sunday 14th June, we’re delighted to return to Horatio's Garden at Musgrave Park Hospital, where we hope our music will bring some comfort, hope and joy to patients, families and staff.

⛪ On Monday 22nd June, we’re honoured to sing at the Clonard Solemn Novena at Clonard Monastery, providing music for the evening service.

❤️ Singing does something special to the soul, and while we love performing in concert, we take great pleasure in bringing our music to places where it can encourage and uplift others.

✨ We’re looking forward to both of these special engagements in June. Maybe we’ll see you there!

🏞️🎶 MY LAGAN SOFTLY FLOWING 🎶🏞️

We hope everyone has been enjoying the beautiful sunshine over the last few days.☀️☀️☀️

There was certainly plenty of sunshine in Lisburn Cathedral a few months ago when the men of our choir stepped forward to perform two songs on their own for the very first time.

This particular song holds special meaning for many of us who live in the Lisburn area, and we’re sure many of you will know it too. It includes these words:

“My Lagan she flows softly
from Slieve Croob down to the sea. Through Dromore and Dromara then close to Aghalee.
From Lisburn down to Hilden,
Lambeg and then Shaws bridge
To Belfast's salty waters where her lonesome journey ends.” 🌊

We hope you enjoy the dulcet tones of the men of Lisburn Community Choir as they share this much-loved local favourite.

A special mention must go to our fantastic soloists Russell Andrews and Ed Byrne.🎶

🎶 Sit back, relax, and enjoy! 🎶
