Hi folks i hope use are all keeping well and that use are all enjoying the Lisburn Memories page😃

We are looking to recruit a few reliable & trusted volunteers & members to act as Admins to help moderate, manage & post content on our amazing page, please see below:-👇

As you can see i have been trying my best to post as regular as possible on this page as their is no lack of messages, photos and content that we are sent on a daily basis from many of our wonderful members and the good local people of Lisburn,

As you can appreciate it takes time to present this content on a regular basis and of a good quality which is why we are looking for reliable and commited people to be part of our team, anyone who already visits and views our page would be of great help

If you think you would be interested or would like to become an Admin on this page then please send me a PM with the words "Admin Consideration" and a few words of why you think you would be a good member of our admin team,

Experience in using the basics of facebook would be helpful though any extra training can be given when needed, if we can get enough Admins on board then the work load will be shared between us all ensuring this page is updated regularly and that it can be enjoyed even more by everyone that visits our page,

Thanks for reading this post😃😉

Please keep sending us your amazing, photos, stories and messages and keep enjoying our great page, it is here for us all to be part of and enjoy and that is what makes it so good.

From Bobby Walker - Does anyone know the name of the Chinese above where the linen museum is now. Think it was the first Chinese in Lisburn.

I was thinking back to when I was young and remember going down to the tow path beside hill street estate to look for frogspawn. there was a small stream just beside the tow path which was full of frogspawn. also used to go down to catch spricks with a net, I don't think today's kids do this anymore, their whole life seems to revolve around their mobiles. so sad.

Thank you Henry Lawson for this photo, LR , Jim Mc Cleery, Henry Lawson, Billy Lawson, doing some butchering 1959.

Thanks to Thomas Moore for sending us this photo that he had found in his collection, it is of the carpark beside the old swimming pool in Lisburn, I think its early 1970-1975? Look at all the old makes of cars🧐

The swimming pool is no longer their now as it was knocked down a good few years ago, You can just make out the big support arms that ran along the side of the pool, it was a very distinct design and shape, Did you ever swim in this pool? I am sure lots of people have many great memories of it🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

This photo has lots to look at, I only know one make of car and that is the classic Mini, does anyone else know what the other types of cars are in this photo?

Please leave a comment if you do or if you have any memories or info about the old swimming pool and the area, we would love to hear them.😃

We have received a request for information, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Hi, I am in South Africa and I am trying to find photos of my Irish ancestors, specifically my 2x great grandfather George Leathem who died on 23 November 1934 in Lisburn and is buried in Blaris Old Graveyard. His wife was Elizabeth Lyness but I am not sure when she died. He was born around 1851 and Elizabeth around 1854. Could you perhaps put a message on your page with my request? Happy to receive emails on [email protected]
