A friend of the food bank shared this with us so passing on the information:

🌞 Free Summer Activities for Children & Young People in East Hampshire! 🌞

This summer, around 15 Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) schemes will be running across East Hampshire — offering fun activities and delicious meals for children and young people who receive benefit-related free school meals (FSM).

Funded by the Department for Education, HAF provides free, enriching experiences and healthy food during the school holidays. Some additional places may also be available for families who could benefit, even if they’re not receiving FSM.

✨ What’s new for Summer 2026?
A new central booking system, making it easier than ever to find and book activities. There’s no need for HAF codes anymore — eligibility is checked automatically.

📅 Bookings open: 9am, Monday 22 June 2026
👉 Families can browse schemes and register their interest now at https://eequ.org/easthampshirehaf

Once registered, you’ll receive a reminder when bookings go live.
📧 For queries, contact: [email protected] (Subject: FAO HAF)

We’re really trying to spend less in the shops… but the shelves keep mysteriously emptying themselves 🤷‍♀️🛒 Apparently people still insist on eating, washing up and using loo roll. The audacity. 😅😂

With a steady increase in new customers and fewer donations coming in, keeping the food bank stocked is becoming quite a juggling act 🤹‍♀️💛

One of our volunteer shoppers has headed out twice in the past fortnight to buy essentials including:

• 20 jars of pasta sauce 🍝• 20 bags of sugar 🍬• 20 tins of baked beans 🫘• 36 cartons of UHT milk 🥛• 21 packs of no-frills biscuits 🍪• 19 antibac sprays 🧴• 36 bottles of bleach 🫧• 45 loo rolls 🧻• 23 washing up liquids 🍽️

The totals came to £90.37 on the first shop and £67 on the second 💸😮

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated the odd few pounds here and there — those donations genuinely help us keep food on our shelves and support local families when donations run low ❤️🙏

With half term next week, demand is likely to increase again 📈 If you’re able to pop an extra item into the donation boxes at Sainsbury’s or the Co-Op, we would be incredibly grateful 🛍️💕

If you’re unsure what to donate, our most-needed items right now are:• Tinned hot dogs 🌭• Tuna 🐟• Mayonnaise 🥪• Tinned sweetcorn 🌽• Long life milk 🥛

Thank you, Liphook — your support means more than you know 💛

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts! ☀️

🚨 TIN ALERT! 🚨

Today one of our volunteers clearly went shopping with a mission…and that mission was: BUY ALL THE VEGETABLES IN TIN FORM.

We’re talking garden peas, mushy peas (because apparently one kind of pea is never enough),sliced carrots, baby carrots (the cuter carrots),potatoes doing their best to stay grounded, and sweetcorn just… popping up everywhere. 🌽

At one point we suspect the trolley whispered,“Please… no more peas…”But the answer was, of course, more peas.

We don’t know what started it.We don’t know when it will end.But we do know our shelves are now officially well stocked and slightly amused. 😄

Huge thanks to our mystery tin enthusiast—proving that when life gives you peas… you buy them all. 🥫💚

What a fantastic effort this week! 🚗💨

A huge THANK YOU to volunteer Chris and his trusty little helper who set off on a big shopping mission and returned with a car absolutely packed full of goodness! 🛒✨ Thanks to your generous donations collected over the past year, they spent a whopping £460 on essentials including milk, tinned peaches, chopped tomatoes and tomato sauce — plus some brilliant fresh additions like sausages, mince and cheddar 🥛🍑🍅🧀

We’re really excited to be increasing our fresh food offering. With the generous gift of a fridge freezer from CJ Hampshire, and the continued support from Liphook School (who we owe so much for hosting us on their grounds 💛), we’re now able to store and distribute more fresh items than ever before.

As part of our holistic approach, we’re encouraging clients to cook with fresh ingredients — and items like mince, sausages and cheddar are a great starting point. Our cookery lessons are helping build confidence too, showing how meals can be stretched further by adding vegetables and store cupboard staples like kidney beans 👩‍🍳🍲

We’re also proud to offer locally sourced produce when we can — with eggs from Downlands and veg from Ed’s Veg often travelling just a couple of miles to reach us 🥚🥕🌱

Quantities are carefully monitored to support each household, with most receiving mince or sausages along with cheese each week. It’s been so encouraging to see more people choosing fresh over processed foods, putting new skills into practice and making their meals go further 🙌

Thank you to everyone who makes this possible — your support truly is making a difference 💚

📊 Our volunteer Chris has been deep in the spreadsheets again… and wow, has he uncovered a BIG number…

🧻 10,888 toilet rolls distributed over 322 weeks!
That’s a serious amount of bum wiping! 😳😂

But hold onto your loo roll holders… with volunteer Anthony currently filling shopping trolleys to the brim with toilet rolls 🛒🧻, we’re on track to buy and distribute 2,500–3,000 rolls this year alone.

Why the increase? It reflects the reality we’re seeing:
⬆️ More people needing support than when we first started
⬇️ Fewer donations coming in

Our volunteer and Chair, Glynis, has also been busy with the calculator ➗
Even in what felt like a quiet week, we supported:
🏠 40 households
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 80 adults and children
🍽️ Providing food for 3 days = 720 meals in just one week

The numbers are pretty stark, and we’ll continue to share more as we gather it.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support 💛

🌱🌼 Got green fingers and big gardening dreams this weekend? 🌼🌱

If you’re planting fruits and veggies and end up with a glorious glut in the coming months (we’re talking courgettes taking over your kitchen, tomatoes multiplying like magic, or surprise marrows the size of small submarines… 😄), don’t let them go to waste!

Liphook Food Bank would be absolutely delighted to give your surplus produce a loving new home. 🥕🍅

Your extra goodies could make a real difference to local families — and let’s be honest, there are only so many courgette recipes one household can handle!

So plant away, grow with gusto, and remember us when your garden gets a little too generous 💚

Are you heading to the shops this weekend? The summer holiday mean that children who are eligible for free school meals can't access them right now... This puts extra pressure on families. If you can, please donate food or give donations to help us support those who need it in our local area.
