IMPORTANT : Dog Poo Bag Dispensers Update-

Each month our volunteers refill the grant funded dog poo bag dispensers across the village. More than 2400 bags are taken EVERY month. That is 2400 occasions where dog owners who are legally required to carry their own bags, have instead relied on what should be an emergency only resource.

The final stock purchased through the previous Labour Councillors Ward Budget has this morning been fully deployed. At the current rate of use, supplies will run out in late June.

We will submit a request to the newly installed Reform Councillors to continue this initiative. Once we receive a decision, we will update the community.

A reminder of the key points:

• Legal requirement Dog owners must leave home with their own dog poo bags. The dispensers are not intended to replace this responsibility.
• Unsustainable usage Current demand means the remaining stock will be exhausted by late June.
• Future uncertainty If further funding is not approved, the dispensers will have to be totally removed.
• Volunteer appreciation Thank you to the volunteers who have installed, checked and refilled these dispensers over the past years. Their work has kept this project running far longer than the original funding anticipated.

-This update is shared so residents understand the situation clearly and can plan accordingly.

Keeping Linthwaite Clean — One Walk, One Bag, One Person Making a Difference

Every day, one of our residents quietly does something brilliant for this village. The Rubbish Magician is one of our local litter heroes! (Paws on Plastic Keep Britain Tidy Inspired)

On each dog walk, he just fills a bread bag or carrier bag with litter from the same stretch of footpath. Nothing dramatic. Nothing loud. Just small, steady action — and the result is a part of Linthwaite that stays consistently clean, welcoming and cared for.

He doesn’t want to be named, and he doesn’t need applause. What he does want is purpose, routine, and pride in where he lives. Litter picking has become a focus for him — a way to stay grounded, stay active, and give something back. His four‑legged sidekick gets him out of the house; the litter picking gives that walk meaning.

And honestly… it shows.
You’ll see the photos — the difference is real.

But here’s the important bit:
Anyone can do what he’s doing.
One bag. One walk. One patch of the village you care about.

If every dog walker, every morning stroller, every “just popping out” resident picked up a handful of litter, Linthwaite would look even better than it already does.

If you’d like to join in — even in a small way — you can sign up, get involved, or find out more via the link below. No pressure, no commitment, no spotlight. Just community pride in action.

Let’s keep this village looking like somewhere we’re proud to call home.
One person has already shown what’s possible. Imagine what we can do together.

6:30am start this morning… Linfit Lane and High House Edge 2 1/2 full bags plus debris from the burnt out burger trailer…

A full collection of bottles and jars that someone clearly either was unable to deposit at the tip or Morrison’s (now there’s no bottle banks there) just all dumped by the farm in a bush at the side of the road!!!

If anyone fancies an hour to donate in the sunshine for a little bit of fresh air and some community action: the following areas would welcome a visit too…
Church La/Felks Stile Rd
Blackmoorfoot Rd (Sands House to Travellers Rest- All Sections)
Black La/Nopper Rd
Holt Head Rd/Jerusalem Rd

Linthwaite: We’re Taking Our Streets Back

“Lanksy” has been out again this morning, clearing graffiti, not just in our patch, but pushing beyond the old Croft House Surgery (village boundary) and a few hundred yards West down Manchester Road to tackle tags that have been sat there for years.

This is what community/valley pride looks like: seeing something that drags a place down… and doing something about it.

If you’ve got graffiti near you that needs sorting, tell us.
We’ll give you the gear, show you how to use it, and you can take action on your own doorstep. That’s how a village changes, one person at a time deciding they won’t just walk past it anymore.

And if you’d prefer “Lanksy” to handle it for you, a small donation goes a long way. Every pound helps us buy expensive chemicals/materials, expand the work, and prove that residents want a cleaner, better Linthwaite.

Like, share, donate — and be part of the reason this village and wider valley keeps improving.

Four Benches, almost 8 Months, One Community – A Big Linthwaite Thank You! 🫶🏼

If you’ve walked through Christ Church Graveyard today, you might have spotted something new… or rather, something old, brought back to life.

Over the last eight months, Pride in Linthwaite has quietly been working on a full refurbishment of four completely rotten benches. What started as “maybe we can save one” turned into a full rescue mission:

• sourcing and treating new wood
• shot blasting the old metalwork
• repainting and preserving every piece
• then a full rebuild before returning them to their Pride of place

This has been a real community effort, and we want to say some well‑earned thank‑yous:

👏 P&A Whitehead Ltd – for the shot blasting
👏 W‑France Joiners, Marsh – for supplying the maple
👏 Local residents & volunteers – for the hours of graft, sanding, painting, lifting, carrying and refusing to let these benches go to waste

What you see now are four benches restored with care, respect and a lot of determination — ready for many more years of quiet moments, reflection and rest for everyone who visits.

Community pride isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s a small team, working away for months, making something better simply because it matters.

Linthwaite looks after its own…
