🌿 𝗔 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗱! 🌿

As part of Linlithgow's commemorations marking 500 years since the Battle of Linlithgow Bridge, our latest display is now live.
This year, the Vennel Bed features a beautiful representation of the River Avon, surrounded by meadow plants that would have been native to the area where the historic battle was fought back in 1526.

🛡️ 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: The shields on display represent the coats of arms of the Earl of Lennox and the Earl of Arran, who fought for custody of the young King James V.

A massive shoutout to Colin McIndoe from Mill Garden Centre for doing the heavy lifting (and high hanging!) yesterday, and to our amazing Burgh Beautiful volunteers who worked tirelessly carrying the baskets to and from the transport van. 💪💪💪

Calling all green fingers, nature lovers, and proud Linlithgow residents!

It’s that time of year again. We are preparing for our Big Planting Day at the Serpentine Bed, and we need your help to make it beautiful.

Last year was a massive success—thanks to 20 amazing community volunteers, we managed to get everything planted in just 2 hours! We would love to match (or even beat!) that incredible team effort this year.

🗓️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻: Tuesday, 2nd June

𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: Starting at 9:30 AM

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: The Serpentine Bed, Linlithgow (opposite the Golden Chip)

🪏𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴?

If you have a small shovel (trowel), gardening gloves or a kneeling pad, feel free to bring those along.

Whether you can spare an hour or stay for the whole session, every single pair of hands makes a huge difference. It’s a massive task, but many hands make light work!

Come along, meet some neighbours, get a bit of fresh air, and help keep our town looking spectacular. 🪏🪴

With the longer days finally here, many local youth groups, businesses, and societies are looking for meaningful ways to give back to the community. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭!

Our community makes a massive difference when we work together. Check out these incredible stats from our area:

🚮 256 Tonnes: The estimated amount of litter collected by volunteer litter pickers in West Lothian in the year leading up to September 2025.

🚮 36,000 Bags: The number of collection bags issued by the council to support these amazing community efforts.

🚮 20 Tonnes: The amount of bagged litter removed during the 2025 West Lothian Spring Clean Campaign alone!

This morning, a fantastic team of Burgh Beautiful volunteers got to work planting up our summer hanging baskets! Each basket is packed with 15 vibrant plants, including:

* ʙɪᴅᴇɴs & ᴄᴀʟɪʙʀᴀᴄʜᴏᴀs
* sᴛᴜɴɴɪɴɢ ʙɪɢ ʀᴇᴅ ʙᴇɢᴏɴɪᴀs

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺? Mark your calendars! These summer displays will be installed on 24th May, replacing our current winter/spring baskets. Look out for them blooming along the High Street, around the West Port, and along Blackness Road.
