Notice on behalf of Metheringham Fayre and Feast working group.
The weather is looking good for Saturday and we have a fabulous programme of free actvities and entertainment for you.
The afternoon begins at 2pm with a grand opening ceremony hosted by Magna Radio presenter John Marshall, where we crown our new Ruler of the Feast accompanied by confetti cannons and great fanfare. We hope to see you there.

Disappointingly, we feel we must include a statement addressing some social media comments by a very small number of traders who are unhappy with their designated arrival times.
Firstly, unlike other similar events, we have a very small area to play with and that area is in the centre of a busy working village, so space is extremely limited. We close the roads at 10am and must be ready to welcome our first tranche of traders by 12pm. That's 2 hours to build stalls, set up the event, move in the trailer/stage, complete the electrical checks, set up stage lighting etc, etc. It's no time at all.
Secondly, because in places the High Street is so narrow and because we must ensure constant emergency vehicle access and egress, all whilst marshalling traders vans, vehicles and activity providers too, we cannot permit a free for all. This is why arrival times must be staggered so we can clear one tranche before the next one arrives. This is the absolute 101 of basic event safety planning. We appreciate that if you are in tranche 3, this gives you less time to set up. If you are struggling, you are welcome to approach a steward who will then locate an Army Cadet or two to assist you. Just ask.
Finally, just because a trader next to you has a different arrival time, does not entitle you to the same. It does not need to make sense to you, it needs to make sense in terms of the SAG (event safety plan), the road partnership, and the emergency services.
This event takes us 9 months to plan and organise - there are 6 of us. We are all volunteers with jobs, families and other responsibilities. On event day, we are on the go from just after 7am until midnight with no breaks. We do this because we care about our village and recognise how much the Feast means to our community. Reading disengenuous comments by a tiny minority on social media is disheartening and uncalled for and we will not have our team members upset by this.
