Lincoln Scouts Providing to 1500 young people, adults and volunteers; across Lincoln

07/06/2026

And that's a wrap on Volunteers' Week 2026. But the gratitude doesn't stop here.

A personal thank you from Lee, our District Lead Volunteer, to every single person who gives their time to Lincoln Scouts. You are the reason 1,540 young people get to experience something special every week.

We couldn't be more proud of every one of you. 💜

2,297 members. 757 volunteers. 528 adventures. 277 nights under the stars.

This is what Lincoln Scouts looks like in 2026 - and it's the biggest we've ever been.

None of it happens without the people who show up week after week and give their time, their skills and their heart to young people across the city. To every single one of our volunteers: this is yours. Thank you.

And if you've ever been curious about volunteering - there is a place for you here. Whether you can give an hour a month or a week, whether you want to be hands on with young people or quietly keeping things running in the background, we'd be grateful for whatever you can offer.

263 young people are currently on our waitlist. You could be the reason one of them gets their chance.

Every volunteer has a moment they'll never forget.

Maybe it was a young person who finally nailed something they'd been struggling with for weeks. A camp where everything went wrong but somehow became the best one ever. A quiet conversation around the campfire that you didn't realise mattered until much later.

This Friday, we're asking our volunteers, past and present, to share yours.

What's your fondest memory from your time with Lincoln Scouts? Drop it in the comments. The funny ones, the proud ones, the ones that still make you smile years later.

We'll go first: One of our quietest, most nervous Cubs had spent the whole session telling us he couldn't do it. Then he reached that yellow hold at the top of the climbing wall at Sudbrooke - and the smile on his face said everything.

Here's something worth knowing: volunteering is genuinely good for you.

Studies show that people who volunteer regularly report higher levels of wellbeing, stronger social connections, and greater sense of purpose than those who don't. Some research even links regular volunteering to better long-term health outcomes.

But our volunteers would probably tell you they didn't need the research to know that.

Because when you spend time helping a young person find their confidence, something shifts in you too. You get out of your own head. You feel useful. You become part of a community that actually looks out for each other.

Thinking about getting involved? This Volunteers' Week is the perfect moment to take the first step. We'd love to have you.
