Sophie's Journey

Sophie's Journey Sophie’s Journey was set up in memory of our daughter, Sophie Robinson. We arrived to be greeted by fantastic staff on E40.

On 20th feb 2014 sophie had became very unwell with headaches sickness dizzyness after several weeks taking her to local gp to be told she was suffering from hormones and migranes we had enough and took her to local hospital where the out hrs doctor aggreed somethink wasnt quite right he arranged for sophie to see a paediatric doctor the following day. On 21st feb Sophie underwent several tests a

nd a mri scan and sophie told us she a brain tumour which we laughed at and said dont be silly what happened next we wasnt prepared for and sophie was right the mri scan had picked up a tumour in the brain, myself and sophie daddys was taken to a room where our hearts stopped and the tears started to flow we then had to tell sophie she was right which was the most heart breaking thing we have ever had to do. It was all go from then we was told that she needed best possible care and was transfered to Queens Medical Centre the same night by ambulance. The following day sophie underwent lots test had several blood test had canular fitted and went for more mri scans wehre it was confirmed she had a large cerebellar tumour escaping through the foramen luschka and involving the top of the cerebellar peduncle this measured 3cm by 3cm which is large in a child, Sophie was then started on a drug called dexamethasone which made sophie very abusive shouting out and swearing which was heartbreaking as many people know sophie is a polite little lady it broke our heart to see her like this but we just had to except it and it was only temperary. Several days past whilst surgeons doctors planned sophies operation and on the 26th febuary we was taken into a room to sign forms and given the statistics of survival which ripped us to pieces but we knew sophie would pull through at 11am sophie went to surgery and we kissed her said see you later princess the next 7 hrs of waiting was orful but at 6pm we was told the surgery went well and they managed to remove nearly all of teh tumour leaving a tiny bit. Sophie was in recovery we was taken down to a very emotional child but them tears i was so glad to hear!! Sophie had a ventricular drain in her brain to release the fluid The next 48hrs were critical and sophie was placed in the section of paediatric dependcy unit to be watched carefully. The next day Sophie proved them doctors wrong and sat up with the help of physios and her recovery began from there everyday she showed so much improvement which the doctors were amazed at within 3 days sophie was out of bed with drain attached and demanding macdonalds!!! We then had to wait to find out what sort of tumour sophie had and the week wait was horrible on the 5th march we was told sophie has medulloblastoma cancer and would need radiotheraphy and chemo over a yr to be within a chance of a cure. We was then told the possibility that the cells could be in her spine aswell and would need a lumbar punchure. Sophie progress over a week was amazing and she proved them wrong sophie had her drain removed out her head without pain relief brain girl!! On 10th March we was released for a few days before having to return on 13th march to have sophie,s port fitted in her body ready for chemo and the lumbar punchure. At 2oclock sophie went to surgery again was only down 3 hrs but still hated that kiss again and seeing you later. Once sophie was back on the ward there was no stopping this girl and the next day she had all her stiches removed from her head brave girl and we was sent home. We are now enjoying time at home before her treatment starts. All the way through sophie has been the bravest monkey we know and stayed positive all the way through which we have learnt from her to stay strong and keep positive the only concern sophie has had is loosing her beautiful blonde hair and that there is nothing out there to show children the stages the hair will fall out and sophie is now wanting to show the stages to others hence her photoshoot has started with pinpoint media from lincoln that will follow sophie's journey all the way till the hair goes and she becomes a baldy like her dad (sophies words) and then to raise lots of awareness about her cancer journey. sophie fought her battle with courage and bravery over the 2 yrs but sadly lost her fight in jan 2016 in the 2 years she and sophies army raised just under 50 thousand pounds for the childrens brain tumour research center in nottingham where she was treated

before sophie passed away her one last true wish was that nobody else go through what she did sadly we could promise this but promised sophie we would continue helping other families in a different way and thats when sophies journey was launched we wanted to provide familys a break away from the hospital enviroment like we was given

so we started to fundraise to purchase a static caravan at mablethorpe golden sands and with 8 months we had raised 20thousand pounds and sophies journey one was brought and opened in march 2017. Sadly we was having to turn many families away with children that have severe Mobility issues due to how harsh the chemotherapy was which Broke Stacys heart and she knew she had to do somethink so the fundraising started again and in April 2018 a further 50 thousand was raised to purchase a fully adapted caravan so now children no matter there ability can have a holiday by the sea to make wonderful memories .

πŸ’™ ONE MORE DAY OF MADNESS! πŸ’™

What an incredible two days we've had!

The support has been absolutely amazing, but... we still have some stock left that we'd love to find new homes for.

So, while the team prepares all the wonderful new stock, we've decided to give you one more day to grab some bargains!

πŸ›οΈ The remaining stock is back downstairs, with 12 rails of beautiful, good-quality clothing waiting for you.

All ladies' and men's clothing is still just Β£1 each!

Don't miss out on this final day of bargain hunting.

I honestly can't wait to share how much we've saved from landfill during this event. The amount is absolutely incredible, and I'm so proud of what we've achieved together. I'd love nothing more than to get an even bigger tile crossed off our list!

πŸ’™ Lincoln, you're helping us build Lincolnshire's first-ever palliative holiday home for children and adults with cancer.

Every item purchased helps save quality goods from landfill while making a real difference in our community. Together, we're turning unwanted items into something truly special.

Thank you to every single person who has donated, shopped, shared our posts, and supported our journey. Your support means more than you'll ever know.

Let's clear those last rails and finish this sale with a bang! πŸ’™

The average UK adult owns around 118 items of clothing, but regularly wears only a fraction of them.

That's a lot of clothing sitting unworn in wardrobes, or heading to landfill long before it needs to.

Donating helps change that story. β™»οΈπŸ’›

A small choice that can make a big difference.

With Toy Story 5 here, we thought we'd ask an important question...

If you spotted a Toy Story character in the charity shop, which one are you rescuing first?

🀠 Woody
πŸš€ Buzz Lightyear
πŸ¦– Rex
🐷 Hamm
🌭 Slinky Dog
πŸ‘§ Jessie

Or another favourite?

We're grabbing Slinky Dog. He'd definitely need a good home.

Who are you choosing? πŸ‘‡

(And no fair saying "all of them" πŸ˜‰)
