Lincolnsaxonvikings

Lincolnsaxonvikings Lindcolne Skipfierde is an Anglo-Saxon, Viking and Norman living history group based in Lincolnshire. We are the Lincolnshire branch of Regia Anglorum.

Lindcolne Skipfierde is a part of the national early medieval period living history society, Regia Anglorum (www.regia.org). Regia has been providing fun, excitement and friendship to members and a professional, historically accurate and yet engaging educational enrichment to clients' events for over 25 years. Most recently, Regia and its groups have been able to provide historic recreation of Mag

na Carta anniversary events and at the popular request of clients, we have even occasionally included Robin Hood figures. This page is for members of the public to come and find us, meet us and make general enquiries. This space is where training details or details of hearth nights will be put, so that people can come and meet us in person. Also, it is a place where potential clients may come and get their first look at what kinds of things we do. As such, please be mindful and respectful of that fact.

We were invited to join our fellow Regia Anglorum groups Grantanbrycg, Sūðfolc Gesìþas and Norðfolc: Viking and Anglo-Saxon Reenactment at castle Rising for Soldiers through the ages over the bank holiday weekend.
We give a thanks to Black Knight Historical for hosting the event and making us feel welcome. It's not every day we get to do events at historical sites, so this one felt special.

Despite the hot weather the show was great with combat and craft displays from textiles, cooking and chainmail making. A great first event for the new East Anglian alliance. We hope to have many more in the future.

We are happy to announce the forming of a new Regia Anglorum group our new neighbours based in north Norfolk and the Wash. We wish them all the best of luck with their endeavours and we look forward to being at future events together.

At last we are live! Without further ado, Welcome to Norðfolc...

Norðfolc (pronounced "North folk") are a newly formed Early Medieval re-enactment group based in the North Norfolk and Wash area, bringing to life the Viking, Late Anglo-Saxon and early Norman periods as part of Regia Anglorum.

Our aim is simple - to recreate and share the history of early medieval East Anglia through authentic living history, combat displays and hands-on engagement with the public. From the daily life of the encampment to the clash of spear and shield, we are passionate about what we do.

We are also proud to stand alongside our comrades in Grantanbrycg in Cambridgeshire, Sūðfolc Gesìþas in Suffolk, Eastseaxe in Essex and Lincolnsaxonvikings in Lincolnshire as part of the "East Anglian Alliance" within Regia, working together to showcase the rich history of our region.

Give us a follow to see what we're up to and if you're interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you!

If early medieval reenactment is of interest to you then why not come visit us and see what we Lindcolne Skipfierde and our society Regia Anglorum can offer you. Our next training session is on the 9th of November at Dunston village hall at 1pm.

Earlier this month we attended a special event with our friends from Grantanbrycg to mark the 900th anniversary of The church of St Mary in Whaplode Lincolnshire. The church was consecrated in 1125.

To help celebrate this monumental occasion we put on a weekend display featuring living history, crafts and combat displays. We had the pleasure of being visited by the local primary school and Rt Rev'd Stephen Conway respectively.

In the early medieval period the village of Whaplode sat on a narrow isthmus at the edge of the fens. Situated on a critical arterial route connecting the English Kingdom to it's north sea neighbours, the resulting trade helped the monastic communities of Croyland and Ramsey to grow increasingly wealthy. Daughter houses were established across the region, including at Whaplode. The church of St Mary, consecrated in 1125, has stood at the heart of the community for 900 years since.

To celebrate this monumental anniversary, Grantanbrycg and our friends at Lindcolne Skipfierde were invited to spend the weekend displaying and teaching about early medieval life through a range of crafts and activities. We were visited by pupils from the local Whaplode Primary School, and also had the honour of welcoming the Rt Revd Stephen Conway from The Diocese of Lincoln

A post that is long overdue. We would like to give a big well done to our member Darcy Skal who passed his one handed spear test whilst at the Wirral Viking Festival. The weapon he has chosen to move onto is the axe, a perfect weapon for any Viking.
