Lincoln Cultural Collective Highlighting the diversity of locally led cultural activity across the City of Lincoln. L.C.C MISSION STATEMENT. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE L.C.C?

Lincoln Cultural Collective is an independently ran initiative focussed on developing and supporting, through collaborative action, local cultural activity across the City of Lincoln. Our aim is to bring together members of Lincoln’s cultural underbelly to discuss, debate, share, inform, and inspire, so that as a collective we can progressively push forward to ensure just representation and increa

sed visibility for local cultural efforts. The purpose of the L.C.C is to establish a resilient and dominant community voice focused on augmenting cultural happenings by those living - or working - in and around the City of Lincoln. WHAT IS DEFINED AS LINCOLN? At present the area of concern includes the City of Lincoln, North Hykeham, South Hykeham, Bracebridge Heath, Waddington, Canwick. We will call this Greater Lincoln. WHO DOES L.C.C REPRESENT? The L.C.C represents anyone within Lincoln’s cultural community. This may include, but not limited to: Theatres, Nightclubs, Galleries, Venues, Museums, Cultural Heritage Organisations, Cultural Heritage Attractions, Historic Buildings and Monuments, Cultural Charities, Radio Stations, Libraries, Archives, Photographers and Videographers, Musicians, Actors, Architects, Graphic Designers, Fashion Designers, Artists, Curators, Potters, Tailors, Furniture Makers, Film and Media Production Companies, Broadcast Production Companies, Writers, Poets, Craft Makers, Pubs, Bars. WHAT DOES THE LPCC INTEND TO DO? The City of Lincoln is on the precipice of greatness. It has been for a while. It has all the right elements, but these elements, as of yet, do not align. The L.C.C intends to aid in civic betterment by championing local cultural occasions, businesses, and those people involved in this community, through the formation of a synergistic cultural forum with a coherent and convincing voice that conveys the importance of Local Culture as an attractive and desirable part of the city’s image and identity. HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? Membership is free. However, a small donation of £10 to help cover the cost of website hosting and marketing materials would be welcomed. Please email to state your interest. Lincolnshire's Quadrophenia Connection:

I have been conducting research on popular culture in Lincoln recently and whilst investigating The Viking Café I discovered an interesting article where ex mod and author Alan Fletcher was promoting his latest book ‘Brummell's Last Riff’. For context, Alan was born in Newark but regularly engaged in activities across the city and county. For instance, within the article it states how he regularly frequented The Viking Café, and the Ruston and Hornsby club before going out to “Super Skeggie”.

Anyway, the book Brummell's Last Riff’ is pitched as a semi-autobiography and details his encounters with the Skegness Mod Scene. However, if that is not interesting enough, further reading revealed that Alan Fletcher was also credited as a story consultant “in the 1979 blockbuster film Quadrophenia” (Horncastle Target, 1996).
