works to propagate an accurate message of Islam amongst Muslims and Non – Muslims; it strives to eradicate ignorance and misconceptions that may be present, which, in turn, will help both Muslims and Non-Muslims, increase their understanding of Islam. The Society aims to increase unity amongst Muslim students and continues to promote closer cohesion between the University of Lincoln’s diverse populations. You do not have to be a student or member of staff at the University of Lincoln to become a Member. So if you’re interested in the above, please, do not hesitate to become a Member at the earliest opportunity. Annual membership is only £10.00. You can register for membership online by clicking the sign up button on the cover photo or by visiting the Students' Union based in the Engine Shed. Remember to take your Student Identity Card! The Society's Committee has been working extremely hard over the summer to organise a number of events and activities over the year. we have Weekly Friday Afternoon Prayers, Weekly Wednesday Evening Study Socials, and Sunday Afternoon Football. There also Weekly Saturday Evening Games Nights and Sunday Evenings Film Presentations. Annually we also oraganise Eid Celebrations; Charity Week in October on behalf of Islamic Relief UK; Discover Islam Week in February, and finally at the end of the year an Islamic Society Awards Night. There's also a continuing campaign for a purpose built Prayer Room and much, much more ahead! If you like to offer daily prayers, there is the Witham House Interfaith Centre available at the University, which is located opposite the University of Lincoln Sports Centre on the Brayford Campus site. The Interfaith Centre offers a place for silent, individual meditation and prayer for both Brothers & Sisters. Washing facilities for ablution are also available on the same floor. There is also a recently added library we hope you find useful for research. The Islamic Society would like to emphasise that this is an Interfaith Centre, intended to be used by people of all faiths and beliefs. Any contributions to the library which you are able to provide will be graciously accepted. Committee 2016/2017
