The Church Hall has been nominated the Lincolnshire Co-op Community Champions for the Cherry Willingham area for the next six months. This scheme raises funds from store collections, a percentage from the sale of plastic bags, staff fundraising and a proportion of the dividend fund. Thanks to the Co-op and also to customers of local stores for their support.
The official announcement was: "Congratulations your group is now one of our Community Champions and we will be raising money for you from Sunday 6th September 2026 to Saturday 6th March 2027. In total the Co-op is supporting 225 groups during our campaign; local groups and charities that are making a huge difference in our local communities.
The scheme works slightly different to other funders as there isn’t a set amount that you apply for, however, we aim that each group will receive between £500 - £1,000. We don’t know how much will be raised until the end of the fundraising period as it’s based on a number of factors including colleague fundraising, store collections, a percentage of carrier bag proceeds and most importantly – every time a member shops and uses their dividend card a donation goes to their local Community Champion".
