Tomorrow at the International Hanse Day parade Stiltwalker Laura Hudson (who you may have seen stiltwalking at our Illuminate parade) will be wearing a bespoke skullcap-inspired costume created by Ruth Pigott with help from CENTREPOINT OUTREACH participants, informed by a design created in this year’s collage workshops.

Skullcaps are plants that have delicate, tube-like, violet-blue flowers that bloom from June to September in damp places, such as marshes, fens, riverbanks and pond margins.

We had a lovely time with the participants of Centrepoint’s Create Along session, creating the flowers for Laura’s costume.

Join us for the return of the Boston Hanse Festival on Saturday 30 May 2026, bringing colour, music, heritage and creativity back into the heart of Boston’s town centre. Running from 10am–1pm (with the parade at 12:40pm), this free event is one of the loveliest dates in our calendar – an annual moment for the town to come together and celebrate Boston’s rich medieval past and its vibrant, diverse present.

Thanks to an Arts Council England Project Grant, we’re thrilled to once again collaborate with the brilliant volunteers of the Boston Hanse Group and Boston Borough Council to deliver a festival full of craft, creativity and community pride.

Artwork new for the 2026 Hanse Day parade will be Lincolnshire Longwool sheep and lamb puppets!

Here are the concept designs for the puppets which has been created by Robbie Bellekom , who has worked with us previously on our Illuminate parade and recently led the moving artwork workshop on the Boston Market place.

Robbie is a puppet maker and puppeteer based in the East Midlands, creating fantastical new work that is accessible and uplifts diverse voices.

The largest sheep in the UK, the Lincoln Longwool is a rare breed that can be traced back hundreds of years and has been chosen for the puppet creation as a celebration of Boston’s wool trade and historic trading links.

See Robbie and performer .nahpeacock bring a ewe and lamb to life this Saturday 30th May in Boston's town centre, an bringing colour, music, heritage and creativity back into the heart of Boston’s town centre. Residents of the Windsor Crescent estate are invited to take part in 1000 Faces – an exciting new public art project celebrating the people of Boston.

Join us and Project St. Thomas for a Portrait Textures workshop!

Artist Dovile Sakalauskaite will show you how to line, texture, and expression of portraits through sgraffito – a technique using scratching through surfaces to create decorative patterns.

The sessions are part of our Art Road Trip project; portable, creative activities exploring the artwork of Lincolnshire, creating a way for everyone, including those who may think they are not very “arty” to respond and engage to the paintings that document our county.

Artist Kerry Wint. .nature will show you how to create a beautiful illustration using biros and watercolours, using a layering technique, to create your own recreation of paintings that can be found in Lincolnshire’s iconic Usher Gallery.

Project St Thomas is a pastoral initiative led by the Catholic community of South Holland, who thanks to a generous donation from Peter Borst, were able to purchase the former St. Thomas’ Road Methodist Chapel, and uses it to serve the whole community — people of all faiths and none — offering practical support, connection and dignity to those who need it.

No need to book, simply drop in. All ages and abilities welcome!
