And here was the moment it was all for, on Thursday in Boston when the bikes passed by!

We admit it was brief (well done everyone, very fast pedalling) but we are thrilled that the flags and all the hard work that the community and artists put into them got to be seen in such a prime location🏳️🚴‍♀️ it was lovely to see the Transported deckchairs in the Market Place too.

Although the cyclists certainly didn't have time to see the designs, and in case you didn't either, here are some closer photos of the flag designs.

Boston welcomed the start of Stage Two of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men — and we marked the occasion with a colourful display of 8 community-created banners in Boston town centre!

🎨 The banners are the result of a creative community project led by artists Dovile Sakalauskaite and Emily Cartwright, inspired by cycling, Boston and the Lincolnshire landscape. The project has been led by and flag alterations made by Ruth Pigott 🙌

Residents took part in community quilling workshops with:
✨ The Crafty Coffee Club
✨ Tonic Health’s HAF Group at Holbeach Hub
✨ Tonic Health’s HAF Group at Pescod Hall

The paper artworks created during the workshops were brought together by Emily and transformed into digital designs. With support from Emma Osbourn at the University of Lincoln, these designs were printed onto fabric to create our collection of 8 celebratory banners. ❤️

The Lloyds Tour of Britain passed through Lincolnshire yesterday, and we're celebrating one of the community groups that helped inspire our flag designs.

Last but not least - !

We were delighted to work with Tonic Health's HAF group at Holbeach Hub, where participants joined Dovile Sakalauskaite Art to learn quilling techniques and create artwork inspired by local landmarks and life in Lincolnshire.

The session was full of creativity, enthusiasm and brilliant ideas, all of which helped contribute to the final designs that were displayed in Boston.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped celebrate our area through art.

To everyone who came to the race, we hope you've enjoyed spotting the flags and joining the celebrations. 🚲🚩

The flags are up!!!

🚴‍♂️🏳️ It's Tour of Britain day in Boston! 🏳️🚴‍♀️

It's a lot, busy atmosphere here in the town, with lots of stalls, decorations, flowers, and crowds starting to gather.

This morning Boston is welcominv the start of Stage Two of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men — and we’re excited to be marking the occasion with a colourful display of 8 community-created banners in Boston town centre!
And they're flying happily away on Wide Bargate Roundabout for today only!

Come and see the 8 designs as the bikes go by. They're on the roundabout until Rhys afternoon only but we're hoping to show them at future events and exhibitions.

As Boston prepares to welcome the Lloyds Tour of Britain tomorrow, we're looking back at some of the fantastic workshops that helped bring our Community Flag Project to life.

One of the sessions took place with The Crafty Coffee Club at Shodfriars Hall, where participants worked with artists Dovile Sakalauskaite Dovile Sakalauskaite Art and Emily Cartwright to explore the art of quilling and create designs inspired by cycling, Lincolnshire and the local area.

It was wonderful to see ideas, stories and creativity shared around the table, with every participant helping to shape the final artworks.

Thank you to everyone at The Crafty Coffee Club for being part of the project. 🚲✨

Our Community Flag Project is almost ready to take its place in Boston's Tour of Britain celebrations.

Created with local residents and artists Dovile Sakalauskaite Dovile Sakalauskaite Art and Emily Cartwright , the project produced two original designs, inspired by cycling, Lincolnshire and community pride, which will be displayed across eight flags.

We're now able to share that the flags will be on display at Bargate Roundabout (the one with the lovely sheep statues), Boston, from the morning of Thursday 3 September until approximately 12pm.

The designs were developed through quilling workshops with community groups across South Lincolnshire, printed thanks to the help of Emma Osbourn at the University of Lincoln and finished by Ruth Pigott and it's been wonderful to see local ideas and creativity transformed into a public display marking Boston's role in this year's Lloyds Tour of Britain.

If you're heading into town for the race, keep an eye out for the flags and let us know if you spot them! 🚲🚩

🎨🚩 Community Flag Project at Pescod Hall

We've loved seeing the creativity on display at our recent Community Flag Project workshop with Tonic Health's HAF group at Pescod Hall Boston Youth Hub, Tonic Health.

Working with artists Dovile Sakalauskaite Art and Emily Cartwright , participants explored the art of quilling, rolling and shaping strips of paper to create designs inspired by cycling, Lincolnshire and Boston's upcoming Tour of Britain stage start.

🎨☁️ Another fantastic Summer CYP and Art Road Trip session!

Yesterday, artist Dovile SakalauskaiteDovile Sakalauskaite Art joined young people at Tonic Health CIO's Holbeach Hub for a creative workshop inspired by landscape paintings from Lincolnshire's collections.

Using soft pastels on coloured paper, participants explored cloud shapes, atmosphere and mood, discovering how colour and texture can bring a landscape to life. Working on muted backgrounds allowed the clouds to emerge naturally, creating a striking sense of depth and space.

Rather than focusing on creating a perfectly realistic scene, the workshop encouraged playful mark-making, colour blending and creative experimentation, helping participants build confidence while developing new artistic skills.

✨ A huge thank you to Dovile Sakalauskaite, Tonic Health, and all the young people who took part.

Art Road Trip is Transported's travelling creative programme, helping people of all ages engage with Lincolnshire's artwork in fun, accessible and unexpected places. Through portable creative activities inspired by paintings from the Usher Gallery collection, we're creating opportunities for everyone, including those who may not think they are "arty", to connect with and respond to the art that documents our county.

🚲 What better way to explore South Lincolnshire than by pennyfarthing?

As excitement builds ahead of the Lloyds Tour of Britain, Transported Project Assistant Iain swapped his usual wheels for a pennyfarthing and set off on a journey through Holbeach, Spalding, Boston and Skegness.

Inspired by the creativity, spectacle and outdoor arts at the heart of Transported's programme, the journey visited workshop venues involved in our Community Flag Project, local landmarks, and a variety of public artworks and creative projects that Transported has supported over the years.

Along the way, Iain met lots of friendly and curious people, including the team at Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre, who are looking forward to welcoming the Tour to Lincolnshire.

The trip was an opportunity to celebrate the places, creativity and communities that connect our area, including the Flyway Trail, which stretches towards Skegness, where Stage Two of the race will finish.
