A Beeeeautiful !!! day at Thorne Bees - The Buzz Stop 🐝🐝🐝

A fabulous , and really interesting talk from the lovely Rebecca - the history of her family and Thorne and its development - then the deconstruction of a bee hive and “all things”fascinating and sometimes surprising , about those wonderful little bees - lots of questions and lots of convo , and think we could’ve kept her chatting for hours if it weren’t for the fact that our lunch was ready !!

So roast dinners (and crumble puds in lots of cases ! - or other homemade sweet treats !)

After this , some word searching (thanks Jess ) but we ran out of time for a quiz , as folks had the shop and museum to visit

Another luveerly trippette with you wonderful folks 🥰🥰

Not long now til we are back to our Wednesday shenanigans at Groups !! - so enjoy the next couple of weeks and see all who can make it , on Wednesday 9th September , when we return for the Autumn Term (how did that happen already ?!!)

“Didn’t we have a luverly day the day we went to Bransby “🎶🎶!!

Huge thanks to Beth and her fabulous team , who gave us a brilliant talk about Bransby , its work , and its wonderful 4 legged residents - informative , fun , rather hilarious at times too ! We also had a guided tour of part of the site , and then some visited the rest under their own steam in their own good time

We had delicious coffees, cakes and lunches , and , of course , had to browse the great gift shop and make a purchase or two !

All in all a super time out together

Beth was most impressed by our wonderful Groups - how much fun everyone is, but also , how supportive everyone is of one another - she commented that other staff had also made the same observation and said as much to her - I had to agree , of course ! As you are all exactly that - a fabulous troupe of the best folks - an absolute joy and pleasure to spend time with 😊

Oh - it didn’t take any of staff long to notice the “the one “ (“there’s always one “) in the midst ! Hadn’t even got fully into the building before that was noted 🤣😂need I say more !!

Stay cool this week everyone - it’s going to be a scorcher 🥵

Just a reminder about details for our trippette this coming Thursday :-

Meeting at 10.30 am in the cafe

Weather looks like it will be sunny , but not too hot , so that will , hopefully , be perfect ! 😎

Don’t forget :-

* Sun cream
* Sun hats
* Something to cover up if you do tend to feel chilly , or to stop you getting burnt if it is actually hot !
* Comfy footwear for pottering in
* Walking aids if you need or use them
* Any medication you might need (hay fever sufferers , allergy meds, your usual meds that you take during the day , as examples )
* cards /cash for refreshments and purchases from shop !

We will be taken round the site by the lovely staff in 2 Groups , as we are quite a large party , and we will have plenty of time for the cafe , with all its loveliness ! and the shop

The staff are all keen and ready to answer any questions you might have about Bransby , what they do , its history , the lovely horsey residents etc - so feel free to bombard them with your interest and enthusiasm !! I’m sure it’s going to be a super / neigh !!!! fabulous 😂day 🫏🐎🫏🐎

Last week of the Summer Term yesterday , and we had a lovely day

We ate cake and played bingo in the morning , and also did our monthly exercise session

In the afternoon we also ate cake !! Thank you so much Hazel for making and bringing in lemon drizzle and banana n ginger cakes - then we also played bingo, and beetle drive (very competitive !!) and did some exercise

Both groups got to grips with puzzles and word searches sourced by our word search Queen Jess - and in case you are worried about missing these over the summer break - never fear - she has even sourced some to take on our upcoming outings !! Ha - Thank you Jess x

Hope the holibob gang are having a wonderful time away - we ate your cake ! Sorry 😂

No trains at the station today !🥴😵‍💫😵‍💫there’s a first ! Sir Topham Hat - aka The Fat Controller - decreed too many friends of Thomas were absent - so “rain stopped play “ !!!!!!! Which meant the beetle drivers could be as noisy as they wished !!

See all those who are going on the trips (first one Thursday 6th August ) - if you are not , then have a lovely summer break and look forward to seeing you for Autumn term (return Wed 9th Sept ) and the countdown to Christmas !! Did I really say that !!!😵‍💫

Now then ! What a Super Summer Fete Day we had yesterday at our lovely Groups 😊😎😊😎

We had :-
* Wonderful word searches n a quiz by Jess (so pleased you are better and back x)
* A free tombola
* Hazels table of delightful diamond art for sale (all monies from this going to Assist 🥰thank you sooo much Hazel x)
* Lost your marbles game!!
* Hook a duck
* Oc*****sy name board game
* Chocco cards
* Bean bag brain game
* Hang up ya socks on the washing line !
and
* Bean bag toss game
Lots of fun , laughter , prizes AND ice cream ! What was not to like !!

Thanks were given, with a small gift of appreciation , to each of the amazing team of volunteers , without whom these sessions would just not be possible - mahoosive thanks from me , Assist as a whole , and all who attend each week to enjoy - you are all , each and every one of you , truly amazing - so warm , kind , patient , generous and soooo hard working - eternally grateful and truly blessed , that you are part of what we do
THANK YOU 🙏 Those who are away next week and missing the last week of term (without a signed pass 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣!!!! ) enjoy your Convention and a well earned rest xx

We will be there next week - for our last week of the Summer term - more fun , more chaos ! and most certainly more friendship - see all who can make it and stay cool and hydrated in the meantime

Well - what a fabulous day we had on Wed

It was sooooo lovely to have Odi back with us after a rather long absence - we have missed you xx

She brought in some amazing reminiscence boxes from the museum that prompted lots of interesting discussions and memories and amazement at several items some folks had never seen before ! Thanks so very much for organising this Odi - a brilliant and much enjoyed idea

We then made a fabulous “Odi Make “ in each group too - a decorated keepsake card - for storing those precious things like photos , postcards (we had looked at some old ones of these in the reminiscence boxes ) tickets from events , or anything else special that you don’t want to lose and want to look back on with fond memories from time to time

We had a birthday to mark , and a farewell (as Jodi had her last week with us this week - she’s now going on to further studies , but will hopefully call in and see us when she can - we wished her well with a card and couple of gifts to remember us by - thanks for all you’ve done while you’ve been with us Jodi - you’ve been a star 🌟 and good luck now in your future ventures xx)

It was hot again this week - might need yet another fan next week ! Altho think the temperature is going to lower slightly from this weekend - phew !
