Workshop June 3rd with Sue Byrom
Even the rain didn’t stop our workshop, here, outside with an umbrella priming our charity shop vases in preparation for up cycling into a completely different style using textured paint.
We were then shown several leaf manipulation techniques with Rhapsis palm, Aspidestra, bear grass and Phormium, some were easy and some more challenging! We also learnt how to wrap garden stakes with wool, using a drill, to give added texture and height to the planned design.
At the end of an intensive afternoon where we tried our hand at lots of new skills,

everyone took home a beautiful finished arrangement, each one very different from the next.’

We had a very entertaining afternoon last Wednesday with Nina Tucknot and her title “Roses are Red or are they”. Her arrangements were lovely and varied, the plant material exquisite and in excellent condition. Her talk about roses through history, the growing of roses, and how different colour roses have different meaning according to the Victorians, and many more interesting facts about roses was fascinating. We really enjoyed!
The Club Competition was “Queen of Hearts” El won 1st in the intermediate Class and Sue won 1st in the senior class and members choice.

Fabulous is the only word to the describe the demonstration Graham Harmer gave us yesterday afternoon. The stage was filled with all his beautiful designs. He is so generous with his flowers , I think I counted 5 designs with double placements and 1 fantastic finale with Magnolia, Proteas and Cymbidium Orchids. We had 16 raffle prizes in all, including pots of Polyanthus and a bunch of flowers. Thank you Graham, we loved it! ❤️💐
Thank you Gerd Gale for the lovely photos!
