A husband and wife from Lichfield are preparing to hike the Yorkshire Three Peaks in aid of We Love Lichfield and raise awareness of hearing loss.

Laura Evans of Cathedral Hearing and her husband Rich will be scaling The Yorkshire Three Peaks on Sat 4th July - a 24 mile route in under 12 hour.

While on the walk, Laura and Rich will be creating a sound map of the area – rather than an ‘Ordnance Survey Map’, theirs will be an ‘Outside Sounds Map’. On the walk, they will record various sounds and afterwards create a visual and audio “map” showing different noises including wildlife, other walkers and the elements especially when their climb the peaks.

We love catching up with the community groups we help so that we can see how our donations are making an impact. We recently caught up with Ben and Hannah from Burntwood-based MAMA UK.

MAMA (Mindfulness, Awareness and Martial Arts) provides inclusive fitness and empowerment programs for all ages and abilities, combining kickboxing, yoga, and circuit training to build physical and mental confidence within a supportive community.

“Thanks to the support from We Love Lichfield, MAMA is able to continue providing vital opportunities and safe spaces for young people in the Burntwood area. This donation will help us expand our services, reach more young people, and ensure they have access to the guidance, activities, and support they deserve. At We Love Lichfield, our aim is to help charities and community associations across the District. We recently received this feedback from Longdon Flower Club which we thought we'd share with you.

"We have been lucky enough to receive a few grants from We Love Lichfield, each one to support our Christmas Demonstration. This allows us to have a demonstrator of renown to start off the Christmas period of floral art. The event is enjoyed by local residents, other flower clubs and those from any walk of life to enjoy the flower arrangements, be given gardening tips and discuss various flowers. We also get tips on other areas of floral art i.e. plaiting palm leaves! As we are such a small club, without the backing of the fund we could not afford this genre of demonstrator. Our grateful thanks to We Love Lichfield."

For many of us, going for a swim may mean a dip in the local pool or the sea when we’re on holiday. But for Radio & Echo's Ruth Redgate , going for a swim on 20th June means swimming the entire length of Lake Coniston in the Lake District. And what’s more, she’s swimming it to raise funds for We Love Lichfield!

It’s a seriously tough challenge: 5.25 miles in deep, open water which Ruth said should take her 5-6 hours to complete. So, let’s get behind Ruth and support her amazing challenge.
