Match Report: Finghall vs. The Dalesman Singles Knockout Tournament (29 July 2026)
The Situation: Taking full advantage of a bye week in the league calendar, Queens Head Finghall hosted a special 16-player singles knockout tournament, welcoming our neighbors from Leyburn—The Dalesman Quoits Club—for a proper Wednesday night showdown.

With the two teams playing in different leagues, this was a historic first meeting between the sides. Running a classic 16-player format—eight opening-round fixtures leading straight into Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and the grand Final—we went into the evening blind and blissfully unaware of what was about to hit us.

As it turned out, what we should have expected was a total, unvarnished masterclass on how to play quoits! The Dalesman brought a level of experience and laser accuracy usually reserved for specialized surgery, leaving Finghall's finest looking on in stunned awe as their defensive clay walls turned the pits into a fortress.

The Battle for the Crown
Despite getting a proper lesson in the finer arts of the game, the Finghall squad dug deep, traded plenty of banter, and produced some brilliant moments of high-caliber throwing throughout the evening:

Simon "The Lunchbox" was the absolute star of the night for Finghall, marching all the way into the Semi Finals! His tournament highlight came in the Quarters, where he squared off against teammate Craig "Thor's Hammer" in a thrilling, highly entertaining club derby before taking the ultimate local bragging rights.

Candy "The Confectioner" had Craig sweating bullets in the opening round! Throwing with supreme touch, she gave "Thor's Hammer" a proper run for his money before Craig found his rhythm (and the crushing weight of his iron) to take the match convincingly.

Richard "The Magician" made his long-awaited debut for the season, turning up in beautifully pressed, light beige trousers. In a display of actual dark magic, he threw on wet, clay-splattered pits for an hour and somehow walked away looking like he’d stepped off the cover of Country Life—not a single speck of dirt!

David "Mr. Callipers" and Nev "The Quiet Assassin" both put on fine throwing displays in their respective fixtures, though both ultimately succumbed to the same ruthless Dalesman machinery.

Lennie "The Heir Apparent" met the same fate as everyone else who drew a Leyburn player in round one, but he fought for every millimeter and refused to go quietly. Massive credit to Lennie for turning up and giving it everything—especially with a crack-of-dawn start the next morning behind the wheel of his bus. He certainly knows a thing or two about coaching, even if The Dalesman gave the rest of us a proper lesson on the night!

Dave "The Skip", Darren "The Houdini", and Rob "The Landlord" all stepped up with massive expectations, only to be given a stern, old-fashioned schooling. Back to the drawing board—and the practice pits lads!

When the dust settled and the bracket narrowed to the main event, it was an all-Dalesman final between teammates Ducky and Tez. Frame-perfect throwing played out under a breathtaking Yorkshire sunset, with Ducky taking the honors to claim the inaugural crown as dusk settled over the hills. There was no silverware on offer, but the bragging rights were well and truly earned!

Above all, using our bye week for this crossover fixture was a resounding success for team spirit and local crack. You couldn't have asked for a better backdrop: stunning countryside views, a spectacular sunset, and two clubs mucking in seamlessly with refereeing, keeping score, and keeping the pits in order. A special shoutout goes to those squad members who couldn't squeeze into the 16-player cap but still turned up to cheer, scorekeep, and heckle from the sidelines as the sun went down.

A few notable off-pitch highlights:

Craig's new addition to the club's armory was unveiled! Having officially brought Mjøllnir into the mix, Craig has earned his rightful new moniker, "Thor's Hammer". The clay pits may never recover from the impact.

Gav "The Preserved" and Glen "The Comeback Kid" were both noticeably missing in action. Rumor has it the two were firmly in cahoots, operating a joint syndicate to protect their stats! The squad suspects they put their heads together, analyzed the Leyburn scouting reports, and mutually agreed to keep their win percentages safely locked away in a vault far from the action.

David "Mr. Callipers" debuted his brand-new second set of giant callipers. Looking like something salvaged from a 19th-century shipyard, his heavy machinery settled those agonizing millimeter calls with undeniable, scientific authority!

As the action wrapped up, a few clever souls sneaked off early to the pub to secure prime position for supper. And what a feast Rob "The Landlord" and the team at The Queens Head, Finghall put on: chicken and stuffing sandwiches with chips and a rich, hot gravy. There was plenty for all, and naturally enough for Simon "The Lunchbox" to squirrel away a second helping directly into his bag for tomorrow's lunch!

A massive thank you to The Dalesman for traveling over from Leyburn, bringing fantastic skills, brilliant banter, and giving us a bye week to remember. We look forward to getting our revenge in the rematch!

Match Report: Away to Crakehall (22 July 2026)
The Situation: Traveling away to take on league leaders Crakehall on their home turf was always going to be a monumental test, but the Finghall crew stepped up to the plate with absolute class.

Noticeably missing in action this week was Gav "The Preserved". Teammates were quick to point out that this was undoubtedly a masterclass in strategic maneuvering—allowing Gav to sit back, put his feet up, and admire his pristine 100% win record from his lofty view at the very top of the internal team table! That said, we're all looking forward to seeing him unwrap the shoes, step back into action, and bring that winning touch to our remaining games as we finish the season strong.

The recent heatwave made keeping the clay alive an absolute nightmare for any groundsperson. The conditions certainly didn't make life easy early on; we faced challenging pits that started out wet and hard, but thanks to Crakehall's hard work, the clay came good as the evening wore on. Playing straight into the evening darkness against a very talented, experienced side, the lads put on a super team effort. Though the result ultimately didn't go our way, it was an exceptionally close affair—far tighter than Crakehall anticipated—and played in brilliant, friendly spirits from start to finish.

The Battle on the Pitches
Every single leg was hard-fought, featuring neck-and-neck battles, brave comebacks, and vital aggregate points scraped together under high pressure. When the dust settled, Crakehall took a narrow game victory (5-4 overall on points), but the Finghall squad made them work for every single millimeter taking 4 games to crakehalls 3.

Darren "By a Thread" kicked off the night in thrilling fashion against Tim in what was quite possibly the longest, most drawn-out match in living memory! In an absolute marathon nail-biter that went right down to the wire, Darren held his nerve to edge out a sensational 21-20 victory, landing 3 crucial ringers to set the tone for the night!

Craig "The Flywheel" engaged in a brilliant clash against Mike. Craig threw with great style and secured a fantastic 21-17 win, keeping his cool to lock in another vital point for the team.

Glen "The Comeback Kid" made his long-awaited return to action, and the squad was dead chuffed to have him back on the clay. He was thrown straight into the deep end against Captain Kim. Despite a valiant effort, Glen just couldn't find a way past Kim's relentless, constant blocks—while not strictly cheating, it was certainly mean, but brilliant tactical play! Glen fought hard to bag 2 ringers, eventually falling 14-21 in a proper battle.

Nev "The Quiet Assassin" showed incredible grit against Simon. In another edge-of-your-seat finish, Nev fought back hard, just missing out at the very death in an agonizing 20-21 heartbreak, but securing 2 ringers and vital aggregate points.

Lennie "The Heir Apparent" faced a formidable opponent in Kevin. It was a tough, uncompromising leg on testing ground, and Lennie ultimately went down 5-21 against some clinical throwing.

Dave "The Skip" stepped up to the plate against Phil and delivered a proper captain's performance. In a tense, edge-of-your-seat battle where neither player gave an inch, Dave showed great composure down the stretch to pull away and grind out a crucial 21-17 victory, keeping Finghall right in the thick of the overall match fight!

Simon "The Nightrider" closed out the main legs against Bry in a true battle of endurance. Simon fought all the way into the gathering dark, digging deep to grind out a sensational, nerve-shredding 21-20 win!

Behind the Scenes: Beers, Banter, & Dominoes
Despite falling just short on the overall team aggregate (134-123 to Crakehall), the squad could hold their heads high after pushing the top team in the league right to the absolute limit on their own ground.

In the Captains Cup, Candy "The Confectioner" stepped up to represent Finghall. Between crafting fine artisan chocolates and keeping Darren firmly in line, Candy is the ultimate team player—always the first to muck in with scoring, support, or grabbing her shoes when duty calls. Facing an in-form Simon as the darkness fell, she showed fantastic grit and a remarkably sweet line, making him work for every single point. Though Simon eventually took a 21-11 win, Candy put on a proper show and proved once again her value to the team.

Once the shoes were packed away and the darkness completely set in, both teams retired for a well-earned round of b**rs and some well deserved supper. The competition shifted inside for a lively game of 5s and 3s, where the banter flowed just as fast as the pints. A huge thank you to The Bay Horse Crakehall for top-tier hospitality and a fantastic, hard-fought match!

Match Report: Home vs. Kirklington B (15 July 2026)
Playing at the Queens Head is always a proud moment, but the pre-match build-up to this clash against Kirklington B was an absolute roller-coaster of selection drama.

Our captain, Dave, had the ultimate thankless task this week. With a massive turnout of players declaring themselves available, he had to make some incredibly difficult choices. Quite simply, 11 players do not fit into 8 possible games, and none of us would relish having to make that decision. Initially, Dave made the selfless choice to drop himself amongst others from the starting lineup based on previous performances, wanting to give others a run.

But as the early start-time approached, the plan completely fell apart. Late delays and sudden unavailabilities threw the team sheet into chaos just as the match was kicking off. Thankfully, the Finghall community spirit saved the day. Dave had to scramble and draft a starting lineup from the loyal supporters who had only turned up to watch! Forced to re-enter the fray himself, we officially crown him Dave "The Re-Drafted Skip" Smith.

Before a single ironwas thrown, a team effort was required. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who turned up to support and ended up mucking in with scoring, preparing the pits, and putting them to bed after a long night of throwing.

A special, legendary shout-out goes to Craig "The Flywheel". Not only did he perform on the pitch, but he spent his spare time organizing the equipment shed. Thanks to Craig, the chaotic pile of metal and wood has been transformed into a beautifully organized space where evrything has a place. Absolute class!

The match itself was a brilliant display of determination, resulting in a fantastic 5-2 game victory and a comfortable 7-2 overall match win with a team aggregate of 134-118! Here is how the action unfolded on the home clay:

Craig "The Flywheel" put up a massive fight in the opener against Andy. Despite throwing 3 brilliant ringers, Craig just missed out on the win, falling 15-21.

Nev "The Quiet Assassin", playing only his fourth game for the club, is doing absolutely grand. He put on a highly composed, clinical performance to secure a comfortable 21-11 victory over Rick and his first win on the board, well done Nev!

Rob "The Landlord" kept his cool in an incredibly tense, point-for-point battle against Andrew. Rob dug deep to secure a vital 21-19 win. Not stopping there, he also stepped up for the Captains Cup game later in the evening to pull double duty!

Simon "The Nightrider" ran into a seriously sharp opponent in Lisa. Simon threw with plenty of style and grabbed a ringer, but ultimately took a hard-fought 14-21 loss.

Lennie "The Heir Apparent" was involved in the undisputed match of the evening. Locked in an epic family feud against his own dad, Phil, Lennie was simply unstoppable. Phil put on a massive display with 5 ringers, but Lennie countered with 4 of his own and took a spectacular 21-17 victory, his first of the season! Some are calling it a cheeky, early birthday present to himself, but there was no mercy shown on the clay.

Darren "The Ringmaster" was pushed to the absolute limit in a sensational rematch against Ang. Ang was out for dead cert revenge after being narrowly pipped by Darren in last week’s Open on her own home turf at Kirklington. She threw like a woman possessed, acting like an absolute magnet to the pin to rack up 4 superb ringers. But Darren kept his cool under intense pressure, matching her spectacular throwing end-for-end to secure a breathtaking 21-19 win, bagging an incredible 5 ringers in the process to prove he's still her ultimate nemesis!

Dave "The Re-Drafted Skip" showed exactly why he belongs on the doors. Stepping up in the final leg, he put on a captain's masterclass, cruising to a superb 21-10 victory over Sam to cap off a brilliant team performance.

Behind the Scenes: Calipers, Tears, and the Landlord's Lockout
With the matches proving incredibly tight, David's massive measuring calipers got some serious, heavy-duty usage throughout the night. While David wasn't actually there in person to wield them, his presence was very much felt—and we're happy to report that the crucial, millimeter-precision caliper decisions generally seemed to go our way!

Meanwhile, Glen and Gav couldn't make the early start. While Gav was sorely missed with his 100% win rate remaining in tact (some carefull tactics at play Gav?) , Glen had to watch on from the sidelines as his hopes of securing the Ringers Title slowly began to slip away. As Darren fired in ringer after ringer, teammates swore they saw the faint glint of a single, tragic tear rolling down Glen's cheek.

In the Captains Cup, Rob "The Landlord" showed absolute, merciless focus. Taking no prisoners against Liz, Rob didn't give an inch and completed a legendary 21-0 whitewash to finish the outdoor action in spectacular, shut-out style!

The Feast & The Football
Following the final throw and a record breaking tidy up, we quickly shifted operations to the pub to catch the England match. The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, and my own 1-0 score prediction was looking completely on track. It was a nervy first half, but a strong start to the second had us looking dominant. Sadly, we were ultimately let down as the team retreated into a defensive shell—the relentless pressure applied was simply too much to bear, and we ended up losing out in the end.

Fortunately, the The Queens Head, Finghall pub kitchen did not disappoint. It's hard to believe the food offering could step up even further, but they treated us to a mountain of food: huge trays of lasagne, chips, and a chilli and rice spread that brought some serious heat!

While England couldn't get over the line, Dave made sure Finghall won the eating competition. Consoling himself with at least 4 massive portions, Dave completely dominated the table, leaving everyone else trailing in his wake as they tried to keep up.

A massive thank you to Kirklington B for the great game and the laughs. Onwards to the next one!

Match Report: Away to Kirkby Fleetham B (08/07/2026)

Traveling away is always a proper test, but this trip to Kirkby Fleetham B will go down as an absolute nail-biter. With our regular skip, Dave in place to guide the ship, which was a relief because pre-match organization was already on a knife-edge.

Darren "Just In Time" was handed the responsibility of doing the captain's draw. True to his brand-new reputation, he rolled up a little late, leaving the squad checking their watches. Luckily, he scrambled in just in time to get the names in the hat.

The pre-match chat naturally turned to the pitches. The consensus was that the clay itself was actually in great condition and not too dirty—although the exact same cannot be said for some of the banter flying across the ends during the game! But all s**t aside, once we stepped up, the ground was in brilliant order for a top-tier battle.

The Battle on the Pitches
You couldn't have scripted a closer match. Leg after leg went right down to the wire, culminating in a mathematically staggering finish. When the final scores were tallied, the overall team aggregate was dead equal at a massive 117-117—an incredibly rare phenomenon in the league!

Because the aggregate points were completely split, it all came down to individual games. Thanks to some immense grit, the Finghall crew managed to sneak a very narrow 5-4 overall match victory after taking a 4-3 game split on the doors! Here is how the drama unfolded:

Darren "Just In Time", clearly unfazed by his late arrival, backed up his draw duties by digging deep to grind out a vital 21-19 win, bagging 3 ringers to get us off to a flyer.

Rob ("The Snowman") (see below) managed the heat well, absolutely dominating his leg and cruising to a superb 21-12 win with 2 ringers.

Gav ("The Secret Weapon") put on an absolute masterclass, comfortably winning his leg 21-9 and landing 3 excellent ringers. He couldn't quite repeat his dynamic heroics from last week—where he rolled up spectacularly late with the team completely behind, only to single-handedly win his leg and rescue the entire match at the death—but he proved once again why he's so lethal.

Craig ("The Flywheel") stepped up to the plate and found himself up against an incredibly sharp opponent in Kath. He dropped his leg 5-21, but proved that swapping his bicycle handlebars for heavy steel quoits is a seamless transition. He's doing great and looking like a massive asset for the club—though word is that while he's happy to volunteer to drive the lads to away matches in his car, he still draws a strict line at giving anyone a croggy on his crossbar!

Dave ("The Skip") was involved in a proper battle of tactics but couldn't quite find his usual rhythm on the away clay, falling 13-21 despite throwing a steady ringer.

Lennie ("The Double-Decker") ran into a player who simply wasn't missing, fighting hard but going down 15-21 against some top-tier throwing.

Simon ("Hollywood") (see below) showed massive heart in a relentless, point-for-point leg, showing great composure and staying cool to secure a brilliant 21-14 victory with 2 crucial ringers to get us over the line.

The crack during and after the game was absolutely top-notch—brilliant banter between both sides all night.

Once the irons were packed away, the hosts put on a flawless spread: a massive, delicious cottage pie. It went down an absolute treat, but the clear MVP of the third half was David "No Leftovers". True to his new title, he leaves absolutely nothing on the table. After happily tucking into a generous portion of extras, he was spotted completely cleaning out the giant serving dish to make sure not a single speck of potato or mince was left behind. Proper dedication to the cause!

In the Captains Cup, David stepped up for double duty against Kath. While he couldn't quite bring home the final victory, falling 15-21, he put on a spectacular exhibition of accuracy by dropping a massive 3 ringers over the course of the game to keep Kath on her toes right until the end!

However, the real test of endurance happened indoors. While everyone was settling down for tea and a well-earned b**r, someone made the executive decision to flip on the patio heat lamps. Rob was absolutely not enjoying the extra radiation and made his feelings well known as he started to melt into his pint. Meanwhile, Simon handled the sudden solar flare like an absolute pro—instantly whipping out his sunglasses indoors to completely block out the glare, fully cementing his title as "The Nightrider" and completing the superstar look.

A huge thank you to Kirkby Fleetham B for the excellent hospitality, the brilliant laughs, the tropical indoor climate, and a match that we'll be talking about for the rest of the season. Onwards and upwards!

Match Report: Queens Head Finghall vs. Skeeby (17th June 2026)

It was a spirited, heroic effort on home turf, but let’s be honest—Skeeby absolutely came to spoil the party.

The massive gossip before the first iron even flew was that Glen "The Risk Assessor" was completely missing in action. Rumor has it his advanced data models flagged this top-tier opposition as a Class-1 threat to his pristine club averages, prompting a sudden tactical retreat. However, his proprietary risk-reward algorithms worked flawlessly for the post-match itinerary: he miraculously materialized out of thin air just as the kitchen doors opened. Funny how it works, isn't it?
To make matters worse for the leadership dynamic, Darren "The Caretaker" decided to test everyone’s heart rates by rocking up fashionably late. Thankfully, our regular skip, Dave, was back into the trenches to anchor the squad, allowing Darren to slip onto the pitches completely unnoticed.

Skeeby brought an incredibly sharp game, taking a 5-2 victory in the games and walking away with a 7-2 overall match score win. They clinched the aggregate bonus points with a total of 112-78. Despite the scoreboard reading like a bit of a crime scene, we had plenty of personal glory to celebrate:

David ("The Master Measurer") drew the short straw, opening up against a lethal Skeeby ringer-machine. He went down 8-21 but legally verified his own ringer for pure bragging rights.

Dave ("The Skip") made his grand return to the clay. It wasn't his finest hour on paper with a 7-21 loss, but he bravely took the brunt of the top-tier opposition's firepower, a rare occasion of more pints than points this week skip!

Rob ("The Landlord") clearly didn’t get the memo that we were supposed to be losing. He put on an absolute clinic to dismantle his opponent, Barry, in a superb 21-13 win, securing our first big point and tucking away a glorious ringer for the leaderboard.

Ellie "The Master Potter" put on a spectacular show of resilience. She ran out of ends in a 5-21 defeat, but she is absolutely getting her eye in, finding her rhythm and range more and more with every match. She smashed in 2 massive ringers just to prove she’s certainly getting her eye in!

Simon "The Pirate" was given a brutal welcome to the number 5 slot. At first, the squad thought he was just giving everyone a cheeky, confident wink before stepping up to the pits—but it turned out to be a completely mystery eye injury! Essentially throwing with one eye closed, he ran straight into a brick wall and finished with a character-building 1-21 loss. We promise it gets easier when you have full depth of perception and stop "winking" at the opposition, Simon!

Darren ("The Caretaker") proved that it is always better late than never! After causing a mild pre-game panic with his tardy arrival, he casually stepped up and absolutely dominated his leg to ground out a 21-14 victory. Not only did he secure one of our only game wins of the night, but he also smashed in a massive 4 ringers for pure personal glory. Word is that Glen, watching from the sidelines with a plate of food, was absolutely not happy seeing Darren completely close the gap on the club's ringers league table!

Lennie ("The Double-Decker") finished the main card with an absolute barnburner of a match. He fought like a lion but just ran out of ends in a tight 15-21 finish,. Despite calls from the sidelines of "You could get a bus through there!" No amount of "coaching" (sorry) could help him get the win. Though he did perfectly park 2 ringers for his personal trophy cabinet.

In the Captains Cup, Nev stepped into the firing line. He threw with heaps of spirit but fell 1-21 against an opponent who clearly wasn't missing.

A colossal thank you to all the locals who came along to the pub to watch, score, referee, and offer vocal support. Facing a side like Skeeby requires a village, and you lot do us proud!

While the results on the clay were a bit sobering, the kitchen delivered a gold-medal performance. A massive shout-out to The Queens Head, Finghall team for keeping the atmosphere bouncing, the pints flowing at maximum speed, and for serving up a legendary homemade chilli. The heat on that chilli was a work of art—exactly enough kick to completely sweat off the misery of a 7-2 defeat. It was so good it successfully coaxed Glen out of the shadows, and it triggered a minor frenzy for takeaway tubs so people could relive the magic at home.

To top the night off, the pub crowded around to watch England's opening game of the World Cup. It was a classic, nerve-shredding, tense affair that had everyone screaming at the screens, but we ground out a good result that sent everyone home happy!

And the absolute crowning glory of the evening? Lennie completely saved the teams honor by winning the football card. Honestly, we were just incredibly grateful to beat Skeeby at something that night! Who needs league points when you’ve got the football card bragging rights?
So we dust off the irons, count our takeaway containers, and plot our revenge. Onwards and upwards!

Match Report: Finghall Queens Head vs. Newton-le-Willows (The Big Rematch!)
After the dramatic cup disappointment just the night before, Finghall Queens Head welcomed Newton-le-Willows back for an immediate, high-stakes league rematch. Talk about an instant turnaround! The pressure was on, and the home turf advantage was real. We were missing our regular skip, Dave, who is away this week, leaving a gaping void in our leadership.

But, in a turn of events that shocked absolutely no one, Glen "The Risk Assessor" was finally back! Word from the village grapevine is that he was spotted sneaking down to the pits much earlier in the day to inspect the clay. After meticulously checking the specific moisture levels under the midday sun, he apparently decided the conditions were perfect and safe enough to risk his pristine "Most Ringers" average. The calculation complete, he officially declared himself fit to play!

Also returning was the highly elusive Colin! The team gave him a welcomed roar as he arrived. Rumor has it that not a single golf tournament was scheduled within a 200-mile radius, freeing up his calendar. He arrived—as you do—driving a classic military jeep, making sure no one missed his grand re-entry into the quoits world, so for now at least Colin ("The Jeep") it is.

The Battle on the Pitches
The team was absolutely fired up, and the effort on the pitch was legendary. The Finghall squad delivered a superb performance, winning 5 out of the 7 games to secure a dominant 7-2 overall match score victory on the night! We were in top form, and the match aggregate tells the full, magnificent story: a huge 136-79. Here's how the action unfolded:

Glen "The Risk Assessor" led the team like he'd never been away, scoring a clean, tactical 21-6 win. His early-morning espionage and clay analysis clearly paid off, yielding a steady 1 ringer to add to his tally this season. Nice to see your actual return, Glen!

Darren "The Caretaker" stood in as captain for the night and was on fire, balancing leadership duties with another flawless 21-9 masterclass. He matched Glen by bagging 1 ringer on the night, doing just enough to quietly keep the pressure on the rest of the club leaderboard.

Colin ("The Jeep") showed exactly why he is so welcomed back, pulling off an absolute clinic on his return! He completely dismantled his opponent in a fantastic 21-5 win and tucked away a slick ringer for pure personal glory. Golf's loss is definitely our gain!

David ("The Master Measurer"), still recovering with his giant calipers in hand, ran into an incredibly sharp opponent. He fought with every ounce of grit in a tough 15-21 battle, chipping in a ringer for bragging rights and securing vital points for the team total because every single end counts!

Rob ("The Landlord") and Alex had their highly anticipated rematch from the previous night. Alex brought some serious game, but Rob was in no mood to yield on home turf. He put on a superb display, securing a dominant 21-13 victory and firmly putting the rematch in the win column!

Gavin ("The Cruiser") kept his strong post-cruise momentum going and put on the absolute performance of the night. He completely crushed his opponent with a flawless 21-4 demolition, finding an unstoppable rhythm to bag a massive 4 ringers for the ultimate leaderboard glory! Outstanding throwing, Gav.

Lennie ("The Double-Decker") stepped out of the bus driver seat and into a proper evening epic. He ran out of ends in a tight 16-21 battle against a very tidy performance, but still dug deep to bag a ringer to add to his personal tally. A true club man!

In the Captains Cup rematch, Ellie ("The Master Potter") faced Roxie again in a tough, determined game. It wasn't our night on the scorecard with an 8-21 finish, but Ellie is finding her rhythm and range more and more with every match, throwing with great spirit against a top-tier performance.

A massive thank you to everyone who came down to score and support the team—the atmosphere was super! It was truly fantastic to see so many of the locals back on home turf, fueling the team with their cheers.

The real post-match victory celebration was the catering. A gigantic thank you to the Queens Head for putting on a legendary lamb curry. It was magnificent—absolutely delicious, and honestly, we barely made a dent. There was so much left over that plenty of people managed to take a container home!

Overall, it was a superb night. Great banter, fierce competition, fantastic results, and an impeccable curry. The league campaign is back on track with a vengeance!

Dave, we did you proud. Glen, the midday calculations held up. Colin, keep the jeep polished. Gav, save some ringers for the next game! The whole squad: immense job. Onwards to the next match!
