“If you are living with a disability and aren’t sure whether to ask for reasonable adjustments, I’d say ‘just start the conversation’.”

For one of our colleagues, changes to their working hours, greater flexibility and open conversations with their manager made an enormous difference to their wellbeing.

In their story, they share honestly about living and working with mental health difficulties – and what it meant to have a manager willing to listen and find ways of working that supported them.

They describe the adjustments as having an “ENORMOUS impact” on their wellbeing. They were able to find a way of working that felt more manageable, while continuing in a role that means a great deal to them.

That experience has also shaped how they feel about their workplace: “very supported”.

Every person brings different experiences and needs to work. Creating space for those conversations, listening and being willing to explore what might help can make a real difference.

Could your next role be about helping someone live with greater independence, confidence and choice?

We’re recruiting Support Workers across Bognor Regis, Storrington, Chichester, Seaford and Brighton & Hove, where we currently have three opportunities available.

As a Support Worker, you’ll build trusted relationships and support people with the parts of everyday life that matter to them. This could include cooking, shopping and personal support, as well as enjoying walks, cinema trips, café visits and other community activities. No two days are the same, but each one offers the chance to make a meaningful difference.

Experience in roles such as Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Nurse or Mental Health Worker is welcome, but it isn’t essential. What matters most is that you’re compassionate, adaptable and committed to helping people live life on their own terms. Full training will be provided.

“The best thing about my job is the clients. Getting to know them, getting to know their characters and just enjoying life with them.”
– Karen, Southdown Support Worker
