Who doesn’t love a show of unity in the streets of sunny Lewes? It was a privilege to support the Lewes Climate Hub 4th July Democracy Day parade alongside Women⁺ Against The Far Right - Sussex, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence. Celebrating Lewes’s connection to Thomas Paine, whose ideas helped shape democratic movements around the world.

Democracy still needs defending and fighting for!

*Stand Up to Racism statement on racist pogrom in Belfast and far right violence across thee UK.

Racist pogroms are taking place in Belfast. Migrants and ethnic minority people have been violently chased out of their homes and communities.

The knife attack in Belfast is horrific, and our thoughts and solidarity are with the victim and their family.

But yet again we are seeing the far right weaponise it. Alongside Belfast, far right thugs have been on the streets in smaller numbers in Glasgow, Liverpool and other cities.

As they did with the tragic death of Henry Nowak, the far right are trying to weaponise an appalling attack for their own gain. Fascist Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk have been egging them on from social media. Robinson right hand man N**i Danny Tommo has opportunistically flown over to Belfast. And small fascist groups turned out elsewhere.

WE CALL ON ALL ANTI-RACISTS TO MOBLISE AND OPPOSE THEM ON THE STREETS

🗓️ 🚨 *SAVE THE DATE:* After Saturday’s march, we can stop fascist Robinson

It’s been announced that on Sat 16 May fascist Tommy Robinson is bringing his racism and hate to London, with a march through the city centre.

We’re working alongside the Palestine coalition, who will be marching on that day to commemorate the Nakba, to make sure every anti racist is on the streets on Sat 16 May opposing Robinson and his far right friends. Watch this space!
