The Green United Sponsored Bike Ride is back for 2026, and this year participants will be cycling to support an important cause chosen by the Youth Board.

Over the past four years, money raised through the sponsored ride has supported a range of local initiatives, including bicycle safety training and Love Our Ouse. This year, the Youth Board has decided to focus fundraising efforts on one of their recent “Big Asks” – tackling the issue of cigarette butt littering in our community.

Funds raised will help provide professionally designed posters and stickers created by Youth Board members to raise awareness about cigarette butt pollution. The money will also contribute towards improved cigarette butt disposal bins, helping to reduce litter and protect our local environment.

Did you know? The UK consumes 40 million tonnes of food each year, and 10 million of that is wasted!?!!

Now that's a lot of food waste! But also that's unnecessary methane and carbon dioxide going up into the atmosphere via landfill emissions.

Want to do something about this? Why not volunteer at your local food waste initiative. There are over 400 Community Fridges across the UK.

Here in Lewes we have our very own Community Fridge run by a team of wonderful volunteers.
