Meadow Blue Community Energy Community energy organization dedicated to developing community-owned renewable energy, low carbon an Offer of Shares: £2,500,000

Meadow Blue Community Energy is a community benefit society, set up to deliver a range of energy–related projects to local people and develop a solar renewable energy source within the local community at Merston farm, Chichester, in Sussex. The renewable energy source will come from a solar park, which will be approximately 10MW. The project has planning consent and a right to connect to the grid. It will benefit from an index-linked FiT rate for the duration of the Project. The goal is to complete construction of the Project by 31st December 2015.

Surveys in the UK have found that solar farms deliver significant biodiversity gains and have the potential to offer even more.

Our Meadow Blue solar array has been operational since July 2016 and has been producing 5,000+ MWh of electricity per year, sufficient to meet the annual electricity consumption of 1,235 typical homes.

Amazing to see that solar farms can support biodiversity as well as supplying electricity to homes! 💚

A new survey supported by Solar Energy UK has found that solar farms deliver significant biodiversity gains.

Thank you to Henri Brocklebank for giving a presentation to the MBCE shareholders and directors at our 2023 AGM about the Sussex Kelp Recovery Project, which is receiving support from MBCE's community fund.

Vast kelp beds once supported a wondrous diversity of marine life. They absorbed carbon, filtered the water and protected the coast from storms. But by the mid-1980s, 96% of Sussex kelp had disappeared. We aim to bring it back.
