Acoustics in the Hall.
The Trustees of the hall have decided not to proceed with acoustic soundproofing for the hall. For a full explanation see below.
As you are aware, the Trustees of the village hall have been considering options regarding the reported change in the acoustic quality within the hall since the removal of the old curtains. The curtains had to be removed as they failed to comply with H&S fire regulations. New fire retardant roller blinds were then fitted. And whilst we appreciate that some groups may be impacted more than others as a result of this necessary change, we have had to take account of the number of groups who would benefit from further action against the cost of any action.
The other major factor of course is the prospective build of the new hall. Any additional purchase now could potentially by an expensive short term fix. Costs for compliant fire resistant curtains were in the region of £1000.00 which was just for the 2 windows as no curtain should be hung at the fire exit doorway.
With this in mind, after much thought, discussion, and gathering of information and quotes, the Trustees have unanimously agreed that at the current time the wisest decision is not to go ahead with any further acoustic measures. However, should there be a change in circumstances at the hall, we may review and reconsider.
We hope you understand our position regarding responsibility for best use of finances regarding upkeep and use of the hall. We continue to try and provide a suitable/usable space for all users.
Best regards
