What a magical Saturday ✨️ kicked off on Friday with a film showing of Lost for Words, which was all about our natural connections

Curated by a small team of creativity and nature enthusiasts the Creating Connections workshops were all about weaving relationships with the natural world and community and stretching our confidence to be creative and for all ages !

It was incredible to see the outputs, the focus and joy in the room on Saturday night...

There was innovative and beautiful depictions of birdsong, handmade books about the lost and found, poetry and insights and a lot of 🎵 song and music!

A huge thank you to everyone who made it what it was.

Creating Connections: there's still space this weekend! 🌿

The singing workshops and the film showing are now fully booked, but there are a few places left on the following sessions on Saturday 3 October:

Morning workshops (10.30 to 12.30), choose one:
🎨 Art with Jill Calder, Durham Hall
✍️ Collaborative nature poetry with Colin Orr, Durham Hall
🐚 Seashore walk and acrostic poetry with Andrew Duff, meet at The Aurrie Mor

Afternoon (13.15 to 14.15):
🐦 Connecting with Birds with Friends of Largo Bay, Library and Community Hub

Saturday evening:
Every workshop ticket includes entry to Celebrating Creating Connections at The Aurrie Mor (doors 6.30pm, starts 7pm), where we share everything made during the day.

All events are free, donations welcome. Open to all ages and abilities, we are aiming for a multi-generational experience some of the workshops vary in age suitability. Just check the booking page under 16s need an accompanying adult, and both need a ticket.

Love a walk to the shops, the school run by bike, or a wheel along the coast? Our paths matter to all of us.

Largo Area Greenways, a subgroup of Largo Communities Together, is working to improve the path network for walkers, cyclists and wheelers, and to make active travel easier for everyone...

We've completed a path audit covering ownership, access, surfaces, vegetation and possible improvements. It's now published, and it comes straight from concerns raised during the community consultation behind our Local Place Plan and Community Action Plan and subsequent feedback.

Now we want to hear from you.

Largo Area Community Council Meeting - Monday 21 September

The next Largo Area Community Council (LACC) meeting takes place on Monday 21 September at 7pm in the Village Hall, Main Street, New Gilston. Everyone is welcome to attend.

What's on the agenda

Alongside the standard items (minutes, matters arising, reports from Fife Council, LCT, Planning and the Treasurer), the meeting will cover a wide range of local issues, including:

Harbour Wynd, Lower Largo - closure and works to the harbour wall planned for March to June 2027
Proposed care home at Lundin Links
Parking restrictions for the layby at the shops on Leven Road, Lundin Links
Community council funding and recruitment of new members
E-bikes and e-scooters

Creating Connections is coming up next month...

October 2nd and 3rd. A weekend celebrating creative connections with workshops in art, poetry, nature, birds and song. Friday night film. Saturday celebration included with any of the workshop bookings. All of these workshops are free (donations welcome).

Creating Connections coming up on the 2 and 3 October 2026

A weekend of film, art, poetry and song inspired by The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris, and the Spell Songs that grew from it.

Creating Connections is a weekend for reconnecting: to nature, to our shared history, to each other and to ourselves, through film, art, poetry and song.

Friday 2 October, 7pm (doors and bar 6.30pm)
Film showing: Lost for Words at the Largo Library and Community Hub. A rare chance to see Hannah Papacek Harper's documentary, which isn't on general release. Stay afterwards for a chat about what it raises. Note: contains some nudity, so not ideal for younger children.

Saturday 3 October
Choose one morning workshop (10.30 to 12.30):

Art with Jill Calder, Durham Hall
Collaborative nature poetry with Colin Orr, Durham Hall
Seashore walk and acrostic poetry with Andrew Duff, meet at The Aurrie Mor

Then one or both afternoon sessions:

Connecting with Birds with Friends of Largo Bay, Library and Community Hub, 13.15 to 14.15
Sing, hum or whistle the Spell Songs with Robin Bell and Greg Smith, The Aurrie Mor, 14.30 to 16.30
