At the monthly Singers & Songwriters' Night in Fjarå cafe bar we schedule performances by great local acts plus an open mic where all are welcomed to take part. Over the last few years it has developed under Sheila and several people have gone on to perform in various places throughout the UK inc 1 person appearing on BBC's The Voice, and another getting close to the TV stage. Some singer songwrit
ers have gone on and started other singer songwriter events both here in Shetland and on the Scottish Mainland, others have appeared on BBC Radio Shetland, and some have made CD's and become Supporting Acts for main music events in Shetland. Singer Songwriter Was taken over by Ian McCormack in 2015 and he ran it and encouraged all age groups and singers to come to our amazing nights in Mareel, once a month, Just as Sheila did. Ian did a great job of publicising the events and we have discovered even more talent here In Shetland. Gail Wiseman has now taken over from Ian at the start of 2017 and we have moved toward an 'open mic' format to embrace musicians talented with all manner of differen instruments and poets too. Do you sing, either with a backing Track or with an Instrument?, are you in a band, a choir, or a solo act?. Do yo play an instrument fiddle, flute, piano or tin whistle?
