The Wardens Trust

The Wardens Trust Warden’s Trust was set up by Richard & Elspeth Gimson in 1991. We also have a large campsite on the cliff-top.

Wardens is a community hub and charity based in East Suffolk, providing support for those who are isolated, vulnerable or have a disability, we provide respite for carers and the elderly, hosting community lunches and activities and assisted bathing days. Their vision was to offer recreational and outdoor facilities to disabled children and adults in this unique area. Our Main Hall is situated on

the cliffs between Thorpeness and Sizewell in a secluded site with access to the beach and a camping area. Over the past two decades we have built up the site to their current standard, and where we hope to deliver an experience that benefits people with disabilities and their carers. Warden’s is situated in a very large Hall where we have facilities for cooking, in a very large kitchen, with accommodation, bathroom and washroom facilities for disabled persons. As well as coming to us for recreational activities, people can undertake arts based projects specifically designed to help disabled people, including those with dementia. Each week we offer a Bath Day for local people with disabilities who can come with carers to use our specially designed bathrooms with hoists. Warden’s can arrange transport for these occasions.

What a wonderful day our clients had with a very special visit from some miniature donkeys! 🫏💛

Some photo's from our Fish and Chip day with a very special visit!

The joy and excitement on everyone's faces said it all. Spending time with these gentle animals brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments for our clients.

Animal-assisted activities can have a positive impact on wellbeing, helping to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, encourage social interaction. Our clients thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it was heartwarming to see how much the miniature donkeys brightened their day.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this visit possible. We look forward to welcoming our furry friends back again soon! 😊

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our Charity Dog Show today! Despite the very windy weather, we had a great turnout and a wonderful day was had by all.

Thank you to all our exhibitors, visitors, and four-legged friends for braving the conditions and making the event such a success. A special thank you also goes to our amazing volunteers, judges, and stall holders, a few to name , Bryony Peall Andrea Gray Woofs n Walks, Terry, Terry & Chris, John& Jessica, Reuben, Jaz, Luke, Ghislan, Ruby, Lesley, Tabby, Frank, Helen - we truly couldn’t do it without your hard work, support, and generosity.

We were delighted to have so many lovely stalls, cakes, refreshments, and activities for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.
