Leighton Buzzard Mencap Affiliated to Royal Mencap and run entirely by volunteers, we run a variety of groups and holiday clubs for children and adults with learning disabilities.

Leighton Buzzard Mencap works to improve the lives and opportunities of children and adults with learning disabilities and their families. Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included. We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life. People with a learning disability find it harder than others to learn, understand and communicate, but like all of us they want different things out of life and need different levels of support to achieve those goals. Leighton Buzzard Mencap works to ensure that people with a learning disability have the opportunity to live the life that they choose. Although affiliated to Royal Mencap, we are completely independently run and funded. We aim to provide that support, advice and practical help through a variety of services. Leighton Buzzard Mencap is a source of support for the whole family, long-term. We have lots of services and lots of ways that you can get involved with us. 🏅 LEIGHTON FUN RUNNERS 10K 🏅

On Sunday 6 September, over 400 people took part in the annual LFR 10k in Pages Park. It was such a brilliant event, bringing together so many people from our local community and beyond, and ending in yummy cake and a much needed massage. Members of LB Mencap stepped forward to volunteer on the day, helping with the cake stall and handing out those all important medals.

Because we are the chosen charity this year, the money being raised comes back to us to help deliver vital services in Leighton Buzzard for people with learning disabilities and additional needs. And we are going to need a drum roll before we announce the total...

One week on since Harefest and what can we say? It was such a brilliant event, at a fantastic pub, and to top it all off it raised more than a whopping £1,400 for LB Mencap!

We are so grateful to the whole community for voting for us alongside Spectrum Community Arts as the chosen charities. This money will make such a difference to the people that attend our groups right here in Leighton Buzzard, opening up more opportunities and giving everyone even more fun!

Thank you to everyone at The Hare Linslade for putting on a fab weekend, showcasing incredible local talent and supporting great causes ❤️

Today's the day! Harefest at The Hare! We are so honoured to have been selected alongside our friends at Spectrum as this year's chosen charities ❤️ Here we are with the famous Jade, who recently came to Holiday Club to deliver the brightest and most colourful carnival session 🌞 Everyone had such a brilliant time, even the families joined in with the performance!

Last week was Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) - a chance to celebrate and give thanks to all the wonderful people that help keep LB Mencap up and running. We know we're a teeny bit late to the party, but we would like to take this opportunity to honour the incredible contributions of our volunteers who make our community
brighter every day through their dedication and passion. Our volunteers give so much to our groups and sessions, and without them we wouldn’t be able to do
what we do.
