Leighton Buzzard Mencap Affiliated to Royal Mencap and run entirely by volunteers, we run a variety of groups and holiday clubs for children and adults with learning disabilities.

Leighton Buzzard Mencap works to improve the lives and opportunities of children and adults with learning disabilities and their families. Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included. We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life. People with a learning disability find it harder than others to lea

rn, understand and communicate, but like all of us they want different things out of life and need different levels of support to achieve those goals. Leighton Buzzard Mencap works to ensure that people with a learning disability have the opportunity to live the life that they choose. Although affiliated to Royal Mencap, we are completely independently run and funded. We aim to provide that support, advice and practical help through a variety of services. Leighton Buzzard Mencap is a source of support for the whole family, long-term. We have lots of services and lots of ways that you can get involved with us. ✨VOLUNTEERS' WEEK✨

Last week was Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) - a chance to celebrate and give thanks to all the wonderful people that help keep LB Mencap up and running. We know we're a teeny bit late to the party, but we would like to take this opportunity to honour the incredible contributions of our volunteers who make our community
brighter every day through their dedication and passion. Our volunteers give so much to our groups and sessions, and without them we wouldn’t be able to do
what we do.

Have you been inspired by the spring marathon season?! Then the Leighton 10K may be for you 👀

On the 6th September at 9am, if running and eating cake is your thing, then come and join us! 🍰

Our amazing event is fully licensed, and marshalled by the most ENTHUSIASTIC local volunteers you will ever come across, to guide you round the fabulous trails and parklands of our town! 🌳

The race is chip timed, and you’ll receive a medal at the finish (to go with the cake!) 🏅

Bring your friends and your family, and of course spectators are welcome too - we can’t wait to see you! ❤️🖤🤍

Huge congratulations and massive thanks to Paul and Mark for their phenomenal efforts running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, all in aid of LB Mencap. What an amazing day, making it all that way through the heat - we are all so proud! Wishing you both a restful week!
