On Sunday, something powerful took shape at Spirix Studios 💚
Young people aged 15–18 from Leigh came together to start writing an anthem for Leigh, a song shaped by their voices, their stories and their pride in where they’re from 🎶
As part of Song for Leigh, we were proud to welcome , who worked alongside the group in a songwriting workshop built on belief, collaboration and real creative exchange. This was not about being talked at. It was about creating with young people and recognising the artistic talent that exists right here, even when it is not always spotlighted as it should be 🌟
This project is funded and co-produced through Wigan’s Creative People and Places programme, supporting communities across the borough to connect, create and thrive through culture and creativity 🩵
Led by local singer, songwriter and youth worker ,the room was filled with confidence, honesty and possibility. Ideas flowed, voices were heard, and young people stepped fully into their creativity, owning their talent and shaping something meaningful together 🫶🏽
In the video, you’ll hear from The Lottery Winners share why the band wanted to be part of this project, alongside Ethan and Caitlin, who speak openly about what this opportunity meant to them 📣 Their words say it all!
Song for Leigh is about more than writing a track. It is about aspiration. It is about celebrating young people as artists. And it is about showing what is possible when they are given space, trust and support to create 🙌🏼
The project will culminate in the creation of a music video, premiering at The Lottery Winners’ concert at Leigh Sports Village in May. A huge moment and an incredible platform to celebrate the young people and their work 🎬
We are so proud of everyone involved and excited to see this anthem for Leigh continue to grow!
This is just the beginning 💚
