We had a great Community Rail Partnership Officer catch-up today, with a special focus on early careers and how we can encourage more people to consider a career in the rail industry. 🚆

We explored EMR’s Early Career Strategy, learned more about the different routes into the industry, and even role-played how to deliver engaging sessions for young people!

Today, Friends of Spondon and Spondon Historical Society unveiled a new plaque commemorating former Spondon Station Master, Henry Ernest Haines.

On 13 August 1924, Henry was tragically killed while at his desk when a lorry travelling to the neighbouring British Celanese works was unable to stop as it approached the level crossing and crashed into his office.

Our railways are full of stories — some happy, and some not so much...

We’re incredibly grateful to our dedicated Station Adopters and community groups for helping to uncover, preserve and share these stories with future generations.

That means if you're trespassing on the railway, there's no chance of a quick tackle or a last-minute save - Stay off the tracks. Stay safe.

🌿 Another productive day at Narborough Station with our friends at Network Rail !

Following last month's efforts, we were back on site continuing the transformation of the station environment. The team carried on clearing and tidying areas around the station, while work also continued on giving the station fencing a fresh coat of paint – there's still plenty to do, but we're making great progress!

With exciting plans taking shape for the newly cleared space, we can't wait to see what our fantastic Station Adopters bring to life. 👀🌼

A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and gave their time to help improve the station, and a massive shout out to our waste partner without whose skip we wouldn't have made such successful progress!!!

Community spirit like this makes such a difference and helps keep Narborough Station looking its very best. 💚

Rail safety week 2026
Yesterday we joined forces with and to welcome Mount CofE Academy Year 6 pupils to a safety station tour at Newark Northgate station. They did a wonderful job of finding all the quiz answers 👏✏️

We also had Newark Tourism involved & spoke to passengers about destinations worth a visit by train!

🌸🎉 Congratulations to the wonderful Willington WI Station Adopters, who are celebrating an incredible 10 years of caring for and transforming Willington Station! 🎉🌸

To mark the occasion, the group have put on a beautiful floral display and are hosting a stall with plenty of goodies!

Over the past decade, their hard work, creativity and dedication have made such a difference to the station, creating a welcoming environment for everyone who passes through. We are incredibly grateful for all that they do.

Here's to the next 10 years of making Willington Station epic! 🌺🌿🚉
