We met two lovely student Health visitors this morning who came to help sort donations with us. It was great to hear more about their training and the families they work with. 👍

We are running low on toiletries, can you help and add an extra item or two to your weekly shop?

We currently support over 100 children a month so our stocks run down quickly!

So far this year we've helped 618 children with the essential they need. No wonder we keep running out of certain sizes of clothes!

We really need newborn and 0-3 months clothes urgently. As soon as they come through the door we are packing them for another referral.

We are also totally out of baby towels.

We have drop off points in whetstone, Kirby Muxloe, Quorn, Burton on the wolds, New Lubbersthorpe, Syston, Oadby, Houghton or Market Harborough. Let us know which address you would like by messaging us. Thanks

National volunteers week!

Meet Tim, our hard working volunteer!

1. What brought you to volunteer at Baby Basics?

Previously 30 years in adult social care and then retirement followed, one day I found BB on Facebook in the summer of 2024, and I started doing wish list donations. Then volunteered regularly since then.

2. What tasks do you do?

I check donations of cots, Moses basket stands, bouncy chairs and pushchairs. Going to the tip or dropping off items at charity places. I also help with donations and collections too.

3. Most random donation seen?

Nothing really random, but we were given two cot/toddler beds made of solid oak, with each part weighing nearly 25kg each, we managed to get them out into the community, but via a delivery as no one had a car big enough or strong enough to take even one!

National volunteers week...

Meet Jen, our wonderful volunteer!

1. How long have you been volunteering with us?

Since September 2024

2. What are the highlights of volunteering at Baby Basics?

I love volunteering at Baby Basics because it allows me to give something back to the local community. It's a privilege to be able to contribute, even in a small way, towards helping struggling families provide for their babies. Also, I gave up work to focus on my family life but volunteering still gives me a sense of purpose without the restrictions of paid employment. Last but not least, I have had the honour of meeting an amazing team of people from all walks of life and have made some lovely friendships as a result.

3. Most random donation you've come across?

It's hard to choose, there are so many random donations, but just today, actually, I came across a box of milestone cards for puppies! Honestly, puppies, not babies! 🤣

The time, the care, the kindness too.
Through every task, both great and small,
You make a difference to us all.

Your generosity lights the way,
Bringing hope to every day.

Having a clear out this weekend? Today, we couldn't fulfill some of our referrals as our stock of books and toys is very low.

We can accept small to medium-sized toys (excluding walkers and ride-ons) and books for children aged 0-5 years.

If you have some to donate please make sure they are in good, clean, complete condition. We have drop off points in whetstone, Kirby Muxloe, Quorn, Burton on the wolds, New Lubbersthorpe, Syston, Oadby, Houghton or Market Harborough.

Let us know which address you would like by sending us a private message.

We also have some on our amazon wishlist too.

Thanks again to our supporters helping to stock up our toiletries! It's always so appreciated when people approach us with their own fundraising ideas or a grant from the community.

New toiletries means families can feel clean and fresh which also helps to look after their mental health and well-being. 🥰
