Huncote Flood Warden

Safety Reminder: As the rain continues to fall the likelihood of the Main Street Rd into Croft Hill becoming impassable is likely. Alternative routes may be more reliable during times of downpour.

Today the river Sour levels in Littlethorpe have indicated significant rise in ricer bank levels meaning vulnerability of river topping at The Brook is highly likely!

After the heat comes the rain! ⛈️

There's the possibility of some flash flooding with thunderstorm warnings in places where thunderstorms falls.

In some circumstances is best to wait for the flood water to subside.

Here's a handy guide of who to call during any storm

28/08/2026

🌧️🚨Hi all, I’m sure we have all seen the heavy rainfall that has swept through the village in the last couple of days. The met office are continuing to issue thunderstorm alerts so more rainfall is most likely to be seen throughout the rest of today and into the weekend.

Thunderstorms are still forecasted in Leicestershire over the next few days 🌧️

There are measures you can take to prepare:

- Lightning can cause power surges so unplug any non-essential appliances if you don't have a surge protector

- When you hear thunder you are already within range of where the next ground flash may occur, lightning can strike as far as 10 miles away from the centre of a storm so seek shelter

- If outside, avoid water and find a low-lying open place that is a safe distance from trees, poles or metal objects

- Be aware of metal objects that can conduct or attract lightning, including golf clubs, golf buggies, fishing rods, umbrellas, motorbikes, bicycles, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs, wire fencing and rails.

After last years events at Croft Hill, precaution is so very important!

Take care this hot half-term, and through the summer. Wildfire can be spread by bonfires, BBQs, discarded smoking materials and other sources.

If you notice a fire in the open, call 999 immediately - don't assume someone else has already reported it.
